Katy Perry<\/strong><\/a> found her teenage dream in fianc\u00e9 Orlando Bloom<\/strong><\/a>, but nothing worth fighting for is easy. The couple have been together since 2016 but spent about a year apart in 2017. Although they got back together, fans have wondered why they decided to break up in the first place now that they\u2019re engaged and share daughter Daisy Bloom<\/strong><\/a> together.<\/p>\n During a recent appearance on the \u201cCall Her Daddy<\/a>\u201d podcast, the \u201cFirework\u201d hitmaker revealed the reason why she and the Pirates of the Caribbean<\/em> actor briefly split.<\/p>\n During her \u201cCall Her Daddy\u201d interview, Katy explained that she and Orlando were on different paths at the beginning of their relationship<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cWe weren\u2019t really in it from day one,\u201d the pop singer admitted. \u201cHe was because he had just done a huge time of celibacy and he had set intentions. I was fresh out of a relationship, and I was like, \u2018I can\u2019t do this anymore. I need to swim in a different pond,\u2019 but I had to do a lot [of] real work.\u201d<\/p>\n At the time, Orlando went on a retreat that was called \u201cThe Hoffman Process,\u201d which \u201cis a week-long residential and personal growth retreat that helps participants identify negative behaviors, moods, and ways of thinking that developed unconsciously and were conditioned in childhood,\u201d according to the Hoffman Institute\u2019s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cHe went there, and he wasn\u2019t playing that cat-mouse game anymore,\u201d Katy said about Orlando when he came back from the retreat. \u201cAnd I was like, \u2018This is boring. I\u2019m moving on.\u2019 I was so used to this push-pull. Because once you have it. I was playing games. \u2026 I finally went to Hoffman towards the end of that year that we were separated, and I got the tools.\u201d<\/p>\n After returning from the retreat, Katy said that she and Orlando \u201cspoke the same language\u201d and decided to rekindle their romance. Although their year apart was \u201creally tough\u201d for her, Katy credited the Hoffman Process, noting that she\u2019d \u201cbe dead without it.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI would not be on this planet without that process and meditation. Because the noise got so large,\u201d she explained. \u201cWhen Witness came out and things started to shift, and I thought I really loved myself. I thought I really had that center, but actually that core was created from outside validation. It just helped me rewire what I think about myself, and it helped me connect my head to my heart.\u201d<\/p>\n Katy and Orlando announced their engagement in February 2019.
