It\u2019s more about learning what love is. I love people, and I don\u2019t know what I\u2019m attracted to, but I choose you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-5\">\u201cI was starting to see people, their hearts, their beauty, and their essence in a way that made me realize, wow, I love people. I don\u2019t know if it\u2019s a sexual attraction or some other kind of attraction, but I\u2019m just seeing people. That was such a beautiful revelation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-6\">Back in 2019, in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/life\/a28451746\/julianne-hough-naked-strength-interview\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" data-analytics-trigger=\"article-body-link\"><em>Women\u2019s Health<\/em><\/a>\u00a0interview, the 36-year-old mentioned a conversation with her then-husband, Canadian ice hockey player <strong>Brooks Laich<\/strong>, where she asked, \u201cYou know I\u2019m not straight, right?\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-7\">\u201cAnd he was like, \u2018I\u2019m sorry, what?\u2019 I replied, \u2018I\u2019m not. But I choose to be with you,\u2019\u201d Hough recalled.<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-8\">\u201cI think there\u2019s a safety with my husband now that I\u2019m unpacking all of this, and there\u2019s no fear of voicing things I\u2019ve been afraid to admit or felt shame or guilt about because of what I\u2019ve been told or how I was raised,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-9\">Hough\u2014who married Laich in 2017 and finalized their divorce in 2022\u2014said in the same Aug. 27 interview that their marriage was \u201cthe greatest thing that could have happened to me at that time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-10\">\u201cWhat I needed then was to reconnect with my 10-year-old self. At 10, I needed safety and almost a father figure to provide a grounding force of stability. Much of our dynamic was this little girl needing a stable man.
