Nicole Kidman<\/strong><\/a> opened up about her latest film, Babygirl<\/em><\/a> \u2014 an erotic thriller about a powerful CEO who begins an affair with a younger male intern (played by actor Harris Dickinson<\/strong>). During a press conference at the Venice International Film Festival on Thursday, August 29, the 57-year-old actress insisted that she \u201cdidn\u2019t feel exploited\u201d while working on sexually graphic scenes for the movie.<\/p>\n While pointing out that Babygirl<\/em> is \u201cobviously about sex,\u201d Nicole noted that it\u2019s also \u201cabout desire, it\u2019s about your inner thoughts, it\u2019s about secrets, it\u2019s about marriage, it\u2019s about truth, power, consent,\u201d according to Variety<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is one woman\u2019s story and this is, I hope, a very liberating story,\u201d the Undoing<\/em> alum explained. \u201cIt\u2019s told by a woman, through her gaze \u2014 Halina<\/strong> [Reijn<\/strong>] wrote it, and she directed it \u2014 and that\u2019s to me what made it so unique because suddenly, I was going to be in the hands of a woman with this material.\u201d<\/p>\n Nicole Kidman and Harris Dickinson arriving for the Venice Film Festival premiere of BABYGIRL pic.twitter.com\/bKvSv9L4i1<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 DiscussingFilm (@DiscussingFilm) August 30, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Nicole emphasized that working with a female director helped her feel at ease while filming certain scenes. The Big Little Lies<\/em> star even called the experience \u201cvery freeing\u201d because of how Halina created a safe environment on set.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was very dear to our shared instincts and very freeing,\u201d Nicole added. \u201cI knew she wasn\u2019t going to exploit me. However anyone interprets that, I didn\u2019t feel exploited. I felt very much a part of it. There was enormous caretaking by all of us; we were all very gentle with each other and helped each other. It felt very authentic, protected and, at the same time, real.\u201d<\/p>\n Although filming the movie \u201cdefinitely [left Nicole] exposed and vulnerable and frightened,\u201d she acknowledged that \u201cmaking it with these people here was delicate and intimate.\u201d<\/p>\n Nicole\u2019s recent remarks about her movie came days after her interview with Vanity Fair<\/em> <\/a>was published on Monday, August 26. While speaking with the publication, the Australia native admitted that she hadn\u2019t made a film as \u201cexposing\u201d as Babygirl<\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cIt left me ragged,\u201d she said about her on-set experience. \u201cAt some point, I was like, \u2018I don\u2019t want to be touched.
