Jana Kramer<\/strong><\/a> held nothing back about her take on Blake Lively<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s It Ends With Us<\/em><\/a> movie during a new \u201cWhine Down\u201d podcast episode. While seemingly responding to a red carpet comment that Blake, 37, made, Jana, 40, shared her perspective on the effects of domestic violence.<\/p>\n \u201cFor people to say it doesn\u2019t define you, it does define you,\u201d Kramer said in the podcast episode, which aired over the weekend. \u201cIt has made me who I am. And though people can say it doesn\u2019t define you, it [does]. \u2026 It\u2019s hard for people to talk about domestic violence when they haven\u2019t, themselves \u2026 in real life had the hands of domestic violence on them.\u201d<\/p>\n Although she didn\u2019t specify what \u201cpeople\u201d she was referring to, the One Tree Hill<\/em> alum was seemingly referencing Blake\u2019s comment to the BBC<\/a> at the premiere of her film.<\/p>\n \u201cThis movie covers domestic violence, but what\u2019s important about this film is that [my character Lilly] is not defined by something [that] someone else did to her or an event that happened to her, even if it\u2019s multiple events,\u201d the former Gossip Girl<\/em> actress told the outlet earlier this month.\u00a0\u201cShe defines herself, and I think that\u2019s deeply empowering. \u2026 No one else can define you. No experience can define you. You define you.\u201d<\/p>\n Blake also noted that the It Ends With Us<\/em> cast and crew \u201cdelivered a story that\u2019s emotional and it\u2019s fun, but also funny, painful, scary, tragic and it\u2019s inspiring.\u201d<\/p>\n The film is based on Colleen Hoover<\/strong>\u2018s book of the same name, and it premiered on August 9. The story follows Blake\u2019s character, Lilly, who is in an abusive relationship with her husband, Ryle (Justin Baldoni<\/strong>). After running into her former high school sweetheart, Atlas, (Brandon Sklenar<\/strong>), the cracks in Lilly and Ryle\u2019s marriage deepen, and she is faced with a choice.<\/p>\n Following its premiere, multiple reports surfaced over alleged tension<\/a> between Blake and Justin, who also directed the film.
