Ever since Jordan Chiles<\/strong><\/a> was stripped<\/a> of an Olympic bronze medal. the 27-year-old athlete has been rallying around her 23-year-old friend following the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.<\/p>\n \u201cI know she\u2019s not on social media, but some of the funny things I\u2019ve seen, I said, \u2018OK, Jordan, can I send you something that I think you would really like right now?\u2019\u201d Simone told PEOPLE<\/em><\/a> on Monday, August 26. \u201cAnd so I\u2019ve sent her little things, and it was like one of them was these four or five girls guarding a medal, and I thought that was the cutest.\u201d<\/p>\n The three-time Olympian then acknowledged the sparkling bronze gift<\/a> that rapper Flavor Flav<\/strong><\/a> made for Jordan.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd then I sent her Flavor Flav\u2019s bronze [medal he made], and then, I sent her LeBron<\/strong> [James<\/strong>]<\/a>\u2019s tweet,\u201d Simone said. \u201cSo, just things to uplift her and know that she still has that support all around.\u201d<\/p>\n After Team USA learned that Jordan\u2019s bronze medal status had been revoked, Simone explained that she\u2019s stayed in touch with her teammate throughout the ordeal.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve been FaceTiming, texting, just being girls,\u201d Simone said. \u201cI did talk to her on one of the days, and I was like, \u2018You know what, Jordan, you have to feel all these feels. Don\u2019t let these emotions stop you. This will be the healthiest way to get all of this out.’\u201d<\/p>\n Earlier this month, Jordan competed in the women\u2019s gymnastics individual floor final. Simone ended up with the silver medal, and Brazil\u2019s Rebeca Andrade<\/strong> won gold. Initially, Jordan was in fifth place, and Romania\u2019s Ana B\u0103rbosu<\/strong><\/a> was in third. Jordan\u2019s coach, Cecil Landi<\/strong><\/a>, submitted an inquiry to the judges, challenging the difficulty score they had given her. As a result, the judges updated Jordan\u2019s score, and moved Ana into fifth place and Jordan into third. Jordan was awarded the bronze medal, but the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) stripped her of the medal after alleging that Team USA submitted the score inquiry too late. Although USA Gymnastics submitted video evidence proving that the coach acted within the one-minute deadline, the CAS doubled down on its ruling and awarded the medal<\/a> to Ana.<\/p>\n While speaking with PEOPLE<\/em>, Simone noted that the situation is \u201can unfortunate circumstance because something like this has never happened before, and it\u2019s truly a shame.\u201d She also said she wishes both Romania and Team USA \u201ccould get the medal, and unfortunately in gymnastics, that\u2019s not the case.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cDo we think they did the correct procedures to come to this ruling?
