We absolutely love a happy ending. One of the happiest of all endings is when we share news before anyone else and it\u2019s later confirmed.<\/p>\n

Back in June 2024, we reported Sphere was working on two top secret projects<\/a>. It was confirmed Sphere is spending $800 million to bring \u201cThe Wizard of Oz\u201d to its high-tech screen.<\/p>\n

Now, Sphere has confirmed the other piece of our scoop: The venue will soon debut \u201cV-U2,\u201d a concert film of U2\u2019s residency at Sphere. This \u201cInception\u201d moment (a Sphere movie about a Sphere residency) launches Sep. 5, 2024.<\/p>\n

If you can\u2019t see how they got to that logo from \u201cV-U2,\u201d you are clearly not a creative artist on par with the likes of Edge.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Like everything new in Las Vegas in the past five years, \u201cV-U2\u201d is being promoted as \u201cimmersive.\u201d It\u2019s the law. In this case, however, the term might actually apply. It\u2019s the Sphere.<\/p>\n

U2\u2019s Sphere 40-show residency (Sep. 2023 through Mar. 2024), \u201cU2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere,\u201d was a smash. It makes sense, then, that the band and Sphere have found a way to extend the show (translation: revenue stream).<\/p>\n

The new film\u2019s official name is \u201cV-U2 An Immersive Concert Film at Sphere Las Vegas,\u201d which is way too long, so we\u2019re using the bris version, \u201cV-U2.\u201d<\/p>\n

The movie was directed by U2\u2019s Edge and Morleigh Steinberg, Edge\u2019s wife, who is also probably a talented dancer, choreographer, lighting designer and director. Even Variety<\/a> got her name wrong<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Oh, that\u2019s right, it\u2019s not \u201cThe Edge,\u201d is just \u201cEdge.\u201d Ditto \u201cSphere,\u201d apparently. Although, \u201cthe Sphere\u201d is acceptable, but don\u2019t you dare capitalize it.<\/p>\n

Directing a concert movie isn\u2019t really directing, per se. They\u2019re basically help edit footage of a performance directed by someone else, in this case, Willie Williams.<\/p>\n
