Co-stars Ariana Grande<\/strong><\/a> and Cynthia Erivo<\/strong> <\/a>are about to embark on an adventure on the big screen. But in the meantime, they\u2019re sharing their excitement in a new featurette for Wicked<\/em>. In the video, the two stars discuss the narrative of the Broadway show, which director Jon M. Chu<\/strong> describes as a story of \u201cfriendship.\u201d<\/p>\n The film will be a rendition of the classic show, which IMDb<\/a> describes as \u201cthe untold stories of Oz\u2019s most famous (or infamous) characters, namely the Wicked Witch of the West and her unlikely friend, Glinda the Good Witch.\u201d The story follows Elphaba from birth to college and through life-changing events that eventually label her as \u201cwicked,\u201d introducing spoiled rich girl Glinda, local prince and heartthrob Fiyero, and even the Wizard of Oz himself.<\/p>\n The description continues, \u201cAs Elphaba, a passionate political activist if there ever was one, fights injustice and seeks to undo the mistakes of the past, dark secrets and personal tragedies shape the history of Oz, paying homage to the classic Wizard of Oz<\/em> story while simultaneously changing fans\u2019 understanding of it forever.\u201d<\/p>\n With this narrative in mind, the two stars, who will appear alongside Jonathan Bailey<\/strong><\/a>, Bowen Yang<\/a><\/strong>, Michelle Yeoh<\/a><\/strong>, Jeff Goldblum<\/a><\/strong>, Ariana\u2019s boyfriend Ethan Slater<\/a><\/strong>, and more, have been able to grow their friendship both on and off screen.<\/p>\n
