Alex Rodriguez<\/strong> shared a cryptic message on the same day his ex-fianc\u00e9e, Jennifer Lopez<\/strong>, officially filed for divorce from Ben Affleck<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

On his Instagram Story on August 20, Rodriguez, 49, reposted a graphic quoting himself: \u201cYou either go one way or the other, you might as well be the one deciding the direction.\u201d<\/p>\n

The retired MLB star didn\u2019t elaborate on his decision to reshare the quote, which came about an hour after news broke that Lopez\u2014without an attorney present\u2014filed for divorce from Affleck, her husband of two years.<\/p>\n

The \u201cJenny from the Block\u201d singer, 55, ended her two-year engagement to Rodriguez just weeks before rekindling her romance with Affleck, 52, in 2021. Lopez and Rodriguez started dating in 2017 and announced their engagement in March 2019. The stars released a joint statement in April 2021 confirming their breakup.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so,\u201d they said. \u201cWe will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. We wish the best for each other and each other\u2019s children.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since their split, Rodriguez has remained cordial throughout his ex\u2019s very public romance with Affleck\u2014who was previously engaged to Lopez from 2002 to 2004\u2014especially as he confirmed his own relationship with Jac Cordeiro<\/strong> in December 2022.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s happy for her and happy that she\u2019s with the person she\u2019s meant to be with,\u201d a source told Us Weekly<\/em> in July 2022. \u201cHe\u2019s in a new relationship now and is happy as well. He\u2019s traveling all over and living his best life. He\u2019s really focused on family, his career, and what he\u2019s got going on.\u201d<\/p>\n

In October 2022, during an appearance on Who\u2019s Talking to Chris Wallace?<\/em>, Rodriguez made a rare comment: \u201cWith Jennifer, look, it was a good experience, and I wish her and the children\u2014who are smart, and beautiful and wonderful\u2014I wish them the very best.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lopez shares twins Max <\/strong>and Emme<\/strong>, 16, with ex-husband Marc Anthony<\/strong>, while Rodriguez shares daughters Natasha<\/strong>, 19, and Ella<\/strong>, 16, with his ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck exactly two years to the day after their Georgia wedding ceremony, listing their official date of separation as April 26, 2024.<\/p>\n

According to a PEOPLE<\/em> <\/a>report, Affleck\u2014who shares Violet<\/strong>, 18, Seraphina<\/strong>, 15, and Samuel<\/strong>, 12, with ex-wife Jennifer Garner<\/strong>\u2014had spent much of the summer apart from Lopez and showed no interest in fixing their marriage.<\/p>\n
