The crowd during night No. 2 of the 2024 Democratic National Convention was undoubtedly \u201cfired up\u201d once former President Barack Obama<\/strong><\/a> took the stage. After being introduced by his wife, former First Lady Michelle Obama<\/strong><\/a>, the 63-year-old closed the Tuesday, August 20, DNC event with a powerful speech, in which he praised President Joe Biden<\/strong><\/a> and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s been 16 years since I had the honor of accepting this party\u2019s nomination for president,\u201d Barack began, before joking, \u201cAnd I know that\u2019s hard to believe because I have not aged a bit. But it\u2019s true.\u201d<\/p>\n While reflecting on his past presidency, Barack recalled his \u201cfirst big decision\u201d that \u201cturned out to be one of [his] best,\u201d which was \u201casking Joe Biden to serve by [his] side as vice president.\u201d While pointing out that he and the 81-year-old \u201ccome from different backgrounds,\u201d Barack noted that they \u201cbecame brothers\u201d during his eight-year presidency.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd as we worked together for eight \u2014 sometimes pretty tough \u2014 years, what I came to admire most about Joe wasn\u2019t just his smarts, his experience; it was his empathy and his decency and his hard earned resilience, his unshakeable belief that everyone in this country deserves a fair shot,\u201d Barack explained. \u201cAnd over the last four years, those are the values America has needed most.\u201d<\/p>\n
