A distant Earth-sized planet is orbiting so close to its parent star that gravity is stretching it to an extreme degree, turning it egg-shaped.<\/p>\n

A handful of known exoplanets are extremely close<\/a> to their parent stars, which exposes them to incredibly harsh conditions. These \u201cultra-short period\u201d planets \u2013 they take less than a day to complete one loop around their stars \u2013 are blasted with radiation and often have surfaces composed entirely of lava.<\/p>\n

Now, Fei Dai<\/a> at the University of Hawai\u02bbi and his colleagues have discovered\u2026<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
