The 34-year-old Maryland native announced his retirement on August 13, 2024, and he reflected on his career in an emotional statement<\/a>. In it, he concluded, \u201cJust like seasons, they come to an end, and it\u2019s time for me to enter my next chapter in life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before getting his start as a professional football player, Tavon played various sports in high school. While attending Dunbar High School in his home state of Maryland, the athlete played basketball and ran track. He also played football during his four years.<\/p>\n

In 2020, Tavon announced that he welcomed a baby girl named Ayva with AnaKarla<\/strong><\/a>. In early 2024, AnaKarla announced via Instagram<\/a> that she was expecting twins with Tavon.<\/p>\n

He Played for Multiple NFL Teams<\/h2>\n

Throughout his athletic carer, Tavon played for several teams. After being selected in the first round of the 2013 draft, he played for the St. Louis Rams, which later became the Los Angeles Rams. From 2018 to 2019, he played for the Dallas Cowboys, followed by the San Francisco 49ers and the Green Bay Packers in 2020. In 2021, he played for the Jackson Jaguars, followed by the Buffalo Bills in 2022.<\/p>\n

Tavon Retired After 10 Years<\/h2>\n

On August 13, 2024, Tavon announced his retirement from the NFL. In a lengthy Instagram<\/a> caption, he pointed out that,\u00a0\u201cNo matter how hard you work or how badly you want something, sometimes God has other plans.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI wasn\u2019t sure if I was ready to give up football, and it has been one of the most challenging decisions I\u2019ve ever made,\u201d the athlete began. \u201cBut after an incredible 10 years, I\u2019m officially retiring from the NFL. First and foremost, I\u2019d like to thank God for turning my childhood dream into a reality. God has blessed me beyond measure! I want to thank my fans who cheered for me and stood by me through the ups and downs. Without you, I wouldn\u2019t have a career. I\u2019d also like to thank all of the organizations, coaches, and staff that took a chance on me. I\u2019m beyond grateful for the opportunities, and I hope you all knew that I played from the heart and gave my ALL every day, regardless of the circumstances. To my teammates, I made some everlasting memories with you guys, and it was an honor to share the field with you. To my family, I couldn\u2019t have done it without your love and support; you witnessed my physical, mental, and emotional battles on and off the field.\u201d<\/p>\n

Elsewhere in his announcement, Tavon noted that the sport \u201cgave [him] more than a career.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt gave me some lifelong friendships and molded so much of my character,\u201d he added. \u201cIt taught me how vital choices are and how decision-making affects you. Football created in me a mindset of relentless pursuit and hard work ethic! Football didn\u2019t always love me back, but it will always be my first love!\u201d<\/p>\n

The now-retired NFL star concluded his caption by insisting that he will \u201cforever cherish\u201d his time in the league.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
