Much of the buzz was generated by Vancouver\u2019s <strong>Philip Kim<\/strong>, a.k.a. Phil Wizard, who captured gold after dominating his final battle against host-country favorite<strong> Danis Civil<\/strong> (Dany Dann) of France.<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-4\">However, Australian B-girl <strong>Rachael \u2018Raygun\u2019 Gunn<\/strong>, who delivered less-than-impressive moves, quickly went viral, particularly outside of the Olympic fanbase.<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-5\">The 36-year-old college professor\u2019s performance across three round-robin battles included a kangaroo hop, a backward roll, and various contortions with her body while lying or crawling on the floor.<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-6\">After her performance on Friday, Raygun posted on Instagram: \u201cDon\u2019t be afraid to be different, go out there and represent yourself, you never know where that\u2019s gonna take you.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5310842\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5310842\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-5310842\" src=\"https:\/\/hollywoodlife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/GettyImages-2166052398_c40b79.jpg?quality=100&amp;w=1024\" alt=\"PARIS, FRANCE - AUGUST 09: B-Girl Raygun of Team Australia competes during the B-Girls Round Robin - Group B on day fourteen of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 at Place de la Concorde on August 09, 2024 in Paris, France. (Photo by Ezra Shaw\/Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-7\"><strong>Yuasa<\/strong>, known as B-girl Ami, who won the gold medal in the women\u2019s competition, expressed her disappointment that Los Angeles organizers didn\u2019t wait to experience the energy between the athletes and the crowd at Place de la Concorde in Paris before making decisions.<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-8\">\u201cI feel so sad about it not happening in Los Angeles because breaking was born in the U.S.A.,\u201d she told The Associated Press on Sunday. \u201cBreaking is not just a sport; it\u2019s also a form of self-expression and art.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-9\">World DanceSport Federation president <strong>Shawn Tay<\/strong> echoed this sentiment, saying at a news conference on Sunday that it\u2019s unfortunate Los Angeles didn\u2019t get to witness the excitement surrounding breaking in Paris before making its decision.<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-10\">\u201cYou can see the last two days it was really exciting and almost mind-blowing for those watching it,\u201d Tay said. \u201cIt\u2019s not just about physical performance; it\u2019s also about the enjoyment in sports that the audience can connect with through what they see and hear. There was a lot of audience involvement over the last two days.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-11\">While Breaking could potentially return for the 2032 Olympics in Brisbane, Australia, <strong>Zack Slusser<\/strong>, vice-president of Breaking for Gold USA and USA Dance, told reporters he thinks it\u2019s unlikely. \u201cIt was a miracle that we were even in Paris to begin with,\u201d he told NBC.<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-12\">According to Olympics officials, the LA28 Organizing Committee proposed five sports as a package for the L.A. Games only.
