Miley Cyrus<\/strong> <\/a>still has the best of both worlds. As one of the most recognizable faces to graduate from the Disney Channel, the 31-year-old Grammy Award winner was named a Disney Legend at 2024\u2019s D23 fan convention in Anaheim, California, over the weekend. The recognition marked nearly 20 years after Hannah Montana<\/em> first aired in 2006.<\/p>\n Upon taking the stage to accept the recognition, Miley grew emotional while thanking the Walt Disney Company and her fans.<\/p>\n \u201cIn 2005, Disney was on a mission to rebuild the company. That\u2019s why they hired [Disney CEO] Bob Iger<\/strong>, and me,\u201d the \u201cFlowers\u201d hitmaker cheekily said, while joking that many believed she and her fellow Disney Channel stars were created \u201cin a lab\u201d at Disney\u2019s office in Burbank, California. \u201cIf I was, there must have been a bug in the system which caused me to malfunction somewhere between the years of 2013 and 2016,\u201d she joked, seemingly referring to her transformation from her Disney days to her Bangerz<\/em> album.<\/p>\n \u201cLegends get scared too. Actors Harrison Ford<\/strong><\/a>, Jamie Lee Curtis<\/strong><\/a> and Angela Bassett<\/strong> <\/a>were crowned as legends, in addition to\u00a0costume designer Colleen Atwood, Disney Parks cast member Martha Blanding, James L. Brooks, Frank Oz, Kelly Ripa,\u00a0comic artist Steve Ditko, animator Mark Henn, imagineer Joe Rohde and John Williams.<\/p>\n \u201cI stand here still proud to have been Hannah Montana,\u201d Miley said while fighting back tears. \u201cThis award is dedicated to Hannah and all of her amazing, loyal fans, and to everyone who has made my dream a reality.\u201d She then ended her speech by referring to one of her Disney Channel counterpart\u2019s songs, saying, \u201cTo quote the legend herself, \u2018This is the life.’\u201d<\/p>\n After landing her role as Hannah Montana in 2005, Miley\u2019s teen sitcom aired from 2006 to 2011. The character became one of the company\u2019s most iconic creations. Even as her fans grew up and Miley\u2019s sound and style shifted, the \u201cCan\u2019t Be Tamed\u201d artist has expressed how thankful she is to have played the teen pop star. Not only that, but she has also performed \u201cThe Climb\u201d from Hannah Montana: The Movie<\/em> multiple times throughout her career.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n\n
