Senator Elizabeth Warren has asked Tesla<\/a> Inc.\u2019s board to investigate whether Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk is using the electric-vehicle maker\u2019s resources to benefit other companies he owns and runs.<\/p>\n In a\u00a010-page letter<\/a>\u00a0sent Thursday to Tesla Chair Robyn Denholm, the Democratic senator said Musk\u2019s activities \u2014 like diverting computer chips from the carmaker to his social media company X<\/a> Corp. \u2014 may be inappropriate. Musk\u00a0acknowledged<\/a>\u00a0in June he sent the graphics processing units to X and artificial intelligence venture xAI Corp., saying they would have otherwise sat in a warehouse.<\/p>\n Warren argued diverting the chips could be a \u201cmisappropriation of corporate resources\u201d and said founding xAI in itself is an \u201cunavoidable conflict of interest\u201d for Musk.<\/p>\n Tesla didn\u2019t immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n The senator also raised concerns that Tesla\u2019s board may have \u201cneglected\u201d its corporate governance duties and that the company lacks oversight. She wants additional information to better understand whether the Securities and Exchange Commission or other regulatory agencies may need to intervene.\u00a0<\/p>\n Warren, who sits on the Senate\u2019s Banking and Armed Services committees, has voiced similar concerns in the past, and has asked the SEC to investigate Tesla before.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n
