After a nearly decade-long estrangement from his father, Aaron Rodgers<\/strong><\/a> shared that the two have taken a small first step toward reconciliation.<\/p>\n The New York Jets quarterback has allegedly been estranged from his parents, Ed<\/strong> and Darla<\/strong>, and his two brothers, Jordan<\/strong> and Luke<\/strong>, since 2014. He had not seen them since late in Green Bay\u2019s 2014 season.<\/p>\n Last summer, before the 40-year-old made his debut with the Jets, Ed bought a ticket to see his son compete in the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe, according to an excerpt from the upcoming book Out of the Darkness: The Mystery of Aaron Rodgers<\/em>, reported by the New York Post<\/em><\/a> on Thursday, August 8.<\/p>\n According to the account in the book\u2014written by Ian O\u2019Connor<\/strong>\u2014Aaron, unaware of the trip, spotted his father on his way to the bathroom. He considered avoiding him but ultimately decided that facing his dad would be the best decision for both of them.<\/p>\n \u201cI could do a lot of things,\u201d Aaron explained. \u201cBut I just thought, \u2018What\u2019s best in this moment, and what kind of gift could I give him?\u2019 Because I do love him. I don\u2019t have animosity toward him, even with all the stuff that\u2019s been said and done.\u201d<\/p>\n Aaron greeted his father with, \u201cHi Pops,\u201d before the two embraced.<\/p>\n Ed, taken aback by his son\u2019s direct approach, explained, \u201cIt had been so long since we even looked at each other. I just kind of froze.\u201d<\/p>\n They exchanged \u201cI love yous,\u201d which Ed noted \u201cwas amazing,\u201d and he began to cry as his son left to finish his round of golf.<\/p>\n After the round, Aaron told his caddie and longtime friend, Jordan Russell<\/strong>, \u201cI think that was what needed to happen.\u201d He echoed the sentiment later to O\u2019Connor, saying, \u201cThat was a special moment,\u201d and added that he believes the path to reconciliation with his family would be through his father.<\/p>\n The father and son\u2019s yearslong fractured relationship has been linked to Aaron\u2019s former girlfriend, Olivia Munn<\/strong><\/a>, whom the family believed was responsible for causing a wedge within their household\u2014a claim both Aaron and Olivia have denied. Ed told The New York Times<\/em> in 2017 that \u201cfame can change things,\u201d while describing his relationship with Aaron as \u201ccomplicated.\u201d<\/p>\n Ed and Darla, with Aaron\u2019s knowledge, attended their son\u2019s Jets debut against Buffalo on the 9\/11 anniversary last year and continued attending occasional Packers games even after Aaron stopped communicating with them.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
