Months after Nina Dobrev\u2019s<\/a> <\/strong>electric bike accident, the 35-year-old actress opened up about facing depression during her recovery journey. <\/span><\/p>\n The Vampire Diaries<\/em> alum sustained several physical injuries that led to surgery back in June, which was successful. As she thanked everyone for their care and well wishes on Instagram<\/a>, she noted, \u201cI have been feeling the support and positive energy.\u201d Despite trying to remain positive, she faced many struggles during her healing process.<\/span><\/p>\n She recalled the treatments as very \u201cchallenging\u201d and expressed to E! News<\/em><\/a>, \u201cWith the pain meds and the physical pain that you\u2019re going through, and not being able to walk, and seeing everybody gallivanting across Europe on Instagram, enjoying the summer while I\u2019m sitting in bed.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n She confessed, \u201cI definitely was in a depression. I had a really hard time.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n The actress is dating Olympian Shaun White, with their life involving a lot of adventure. Since the accident, she has felt scared to be open to trying things again. \u201cI feel like I have a fear now\u2026 I used to be so adventurous and down to do anything. And now, since the injury\u2014maybe it\u2019s because I\u2019m still healing, and it\u2019s a nine-month process. I\u2019m only three and a half months into the nine months. I\u2019m still having to relearn how to walk, so the idea of getting back on a snowboard or a dirt bike is definitely not happening.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Now, Nina wears a knee brace to help in the healing process, and she has tried to stay active. Recently, The Originals<\/em> actress attended the 2024 Paris Olympics with her boyfriend, former Olympic snowboarder Shaun White<\/a><\/strong>. She shared an Instagram carousel<\/a> with snaps of her time in the \u2018City of Love,\u2019 posing with her brace and cane. \u201cI can officially cross \u2018my first Olympics\u2019 off the bucket list.\u201d In French, she continued, \u201cGoodbye Paris, see you next time!
