L\u00e9on Marchand<\/strong><\/a> is the king of Olympic swimming this time around. The 22-year-old French swimmer dominated<\/a> the men\u2019s 200 IM final during the Paris Olympic Games, taking home his fourth gold medal. Over the past week, L\u00e9on was victorious in multiple other events.<\/p>\n

The pro swimmer has broken several records. He is now the first French swimming champ to win several gold medals in the same Olympics. According to social media and Olympics viewers around the world, L\u00e9on is the new king of swimming.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I returned to France, I was a bit stressed realising that the Olympics were less than a month away,\u201d he explained. \u201cBut since I\u2019ve been in training camp, I\u2019ve been calm and serene. The event doesn\u2019t overwhelm me; it will help me transcend.\u201d<\/p>\n

While crediting coach Bob Bowman<\/strong> \u2014 who also coached Michael Phelps<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 L\u00e9on noted, \u201cBob and I have done the job for a year and a half, now is not the time to panic. We don\u2019t overthink it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cFor me, it\u2019s a driving force. Making history helps you learn about yourself and opens you up to others,\u201d the gold medalist added. \u201cMany French athletes, for example, are inspired by Florent Manaudou. It\u2019s not my primary goal, but it comes with what I do in the water and the work I put in.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Since Bob is aware of what works for Olympic hopefuls, he told the website that the \u201clast thing\u201d he wanted to do \u201cwith a high-level swimmer is make them dependent on their coach.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cL\u00e9on is very good at knowing what he needs to do and how he needs to do it,\u201d the coach explained. \u201cWe also have built in a system of routines that are basically automatic at this meet. All he needs to know is when his event starts and that lets him know when he\u2019s going to warm up, when he\u2019s going to put his suit on, when he\u2019s going to go to the ready room, what to do after \u2014 he\u2019s got a whole thing. He doesn\u2019t really have to make a lot of decisions at the meet, and that\u2019s by design, because the last thing you want to be doing at the Olympics is trying to figure that out. That just has to be part of your DNA at that point.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
