Sha\u2019Carri Richardson<\/strong><\/a> made her Olympic debut, winning by a large margin. The 24-year-old pro sprinter<\/a> finished the women\u2019s 100-meter race in just 10.94 seconds.<\/p>\n

Viewers watched as Sha\u2019Carri beat her competitors by a large margin during the Paris Olympic Games event on Friday, August 2. The Dallas, Texas, native started the race with a steady pace, quickly gaining enough momentum to put her several feet in front of the other runners.<\/p>\n

After completing the event, Sha\u2019Carri told NBC News that making her Olympic debut was a \u201cphenomenal feeling\u201d after a long, strenuous journey in her running career.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo be at the Olympics is a phenomenal feeling,\u201d she said. \u201cTo be an athlete here, competing with the energy here with a great appreciation for track and field \u2026 I\u2019m super excited and eager to compete on the Olympics stage.\u201d<\/p>\n

Previously, Sha\u2019Carri opened up to Vogue<\/em><\/a> about her path to Paris. As for what brought her this far in her career, Sha\u2019Carri noted, \u201cYou keep showing up. No matter what.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMost people, they only think of track every four years,\u201d the athlete explained during the interview that was published on July 9. \u201cThe Olympics, that\u2019s all there is \u2014 those few seconds on TV. But for me, track is my life on a day-to-day basis. Everything I do \u2014 what I eat, what I drink, if I stay up too late \u2014 it\u2019s all reflected on the track. Every choice. That\u2019s what the world doesn\u2019t see.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sha\u2019Carri credited her mother, whom she calls \u201cBig Momma,\u201d as the one who shaped her growth as a person.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverything I am, it\u2019s because of that strong, wise Black woman,\u201d she said at the time. \u201cEverything. I mean, I\u2019ve been blessed, because I\u2019ve had other people in my life who have helped me along. But the foundation, that\u2019s her.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for how she feels whenever she sets foot on the track, Sha\u2019Carri compared the process of racing to playing chess.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery move you make is leading to checkmate,\u201d she said. \u201cSo the Olympics, OK, that\u2019s checkmate, that\u2019s the moment an athlete dreams about. But every race I have leading up to that matters too \u2014 that\u2019s my opportunity to grow, so, by the time I\u2019m on the track in Paris, I know I\u2019ve done my trial and error. \u2026 Because if all I\u2019m doing is looking ahead, then I can\u2019t be where I need to be. Which is here, now.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
