This is\u00a0Pop Culture Jeopardy!\u00a0<\/em>As the new spinoff of the popular trivia game show prepares to launch, it\u2019s been announced that they\u2019ve found their host in none other than\u00a0Saturday Night Live<\/em>\u2018s\u00a0Colin Jost<\/strong>.<\/a> The show is set to start filming in August, and the show will eventually premiere on Amazon\u2019s Prime Video.<\/p>\n

Colin had a short response to show that he was looking forward to joining the latest spinoff for the series. \u201cWhat is: I\u2019m excited,\u201d he said in a statement to\u00a0People<\/em><\/a>. Other executives also expressed excitement about having the \u201cWeekend Update\u201d anchor and\u00a0Saturday Night Live\u00a0<\/em>writer stepping in to host the show. President of Game Shows at Sony Pictures Television\u00a0Suzanne Prete\u00a0<\/strong>told the outlet that they \u201ccould not be happier\u201d to have him in the hosting position, complimenting his \u201csharp wit and intelligence,\u201d saying that he was perfect. \u201cHe\u2019s smart and quick, like our contestants, and we know he\u2019ll be able to keep up with them while making this new series his own,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Like the game that it\u2019s based off of,\u00a0Pop Culture Jeopardy\u00a0<\/em>will be a trivia-based game show, where contestants answer in the form of questions. The game show\u2019s website says that the \u201cformat that combines the academic rigor of\u00a0Jeopardy!<\/em> with the excitement and unpredictability of pop culture.\u201d<\/p>\n

Unlike\u00a0Jeopardy<\/em>, the pop culture spinoff will have teams competing for the grand prize. \u201cContestants, playing in teams of three, will need to be experts in categories from Alternative Rock to The Avengers; Broadway to MMA; Gen Z to Zendaya as they compete in a tournament-style event for the grand prize and ultimate bragging rights,\u201d the website<\/a> states.<\/p>\n

For\u00a0Pop Culture Jeopardy\u00a0<\/em>hopefuls, it\u2019s unfortunately too late to apply. The show\u2019s website notes that the \u201cAnytime Test\u201d closed on Friday, July 26. Still, perhaps there will be other opportunities to apply if the show goes well for everyone. Tapings will take place at the Sony Pictures Studio in Culver City, California.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
