The 2012 women\u2019s gymnastics Olympic team went down in history as the \u201cFierce Five.\u201d Aly Raisman<\/a>, Gabby Douglas<\/a>, Jordyn Wieber,<\/a> McKayla Maroney<\/a><\/strong> and Kyla Ross<\/strong> won Team USA the first gold medal since 1996\u2019s \u201cMagnificent Seven\u201d team. Some of the teammates continued with the competitive sport, while others retired.<\/p>\n Find out where all of the Fierce Five athletes are today, below.<\/p>\n After the team captain helped the team win gold in 2012, she competed on Dancing With the Stars<\/em> in season 16. She finished in fourth place.<\/p>\n Aly later returned to the Olympic stage at the 2016 Rio Olympics alongside Simone Biles<\/strong><\/a>. Alongside the 2016 team, Aly won gold while also earning a silver medal in the all-around competition, a silver medal on balance beam and a gold medal for her floor routine.<\/p>\n After retiring from the sport, Aly released her 2017 book, Fierce: How Competing for Myself Changed Everything<\/em>. The gymnast was also given opportunities to appear in film, including in Maroon 5\u2019s \u201cGirls Like You\u201d music video and in the reboot of Charlie\u2019s Angels<\/em>.<\/p>\n In addition to her media and athletic opportunities, Aly became a strong advocate against sexual assault and harassment. In 2017, she came forward as one of the survivors of Larry Nassar<\/strong>\u2018s abuse of countless gymnasts and other athletes.<\/p>\n After helping the Fierce Five win gold, Jordyn retired from elite gymnastics and worked as a team manager for the UCLA gymnastics team for three years. She also served as a volunteer coach for the team while studying psychology. In 2019, Jordyn\u00a0became a coach for the University of Arkansas\u2019 Razorbacks team.<\/p>\n Alongside several former teammates, Jordyn came forward in 2018 as one of the survivors of Larry Nassar\u2019s sexual abuse.<\/p>\n As for her personal life, Jordyn married fellow Olympian Chris Brooks in 2023.<\/p>\n After making a name for herself at the 2012 Olympics, Gabby became the first African American Olympic individual all-around champion. Two years later, she detailed her athletic journey in the biopic The Gabby Douglas Story<\/em>. Not only that, but the gymnast created her reality TV series, Douglas Family Gold<\/em>.<\/p>\n In 2016, Gabby made her Olympic return by competing in Rio. Although she had to withdraw from the 2024 Paris Olympic team, Gabby is training for the 2028 summer Olympics. She is the only member of the Fierce Five who has not retired from elite gymnastics.<\/p>\n Known as the face for the hilarious \u201cnot impressed\u201d meme, McKayla won silver for the vault finals at the 2012 Olympics. She eventually retired from the sport. In 2017, McKayla revealed that she was one of the survivors from Larry\u2019s sexual abuse.<\/p>\n Apart from gymnastics, McKayla ventured into releasing her own music. In 2020, she released her first single, \u201cWake Up Call,\u201d followed by \u201cCovid Lockdown.\u201d<\/p>\n After helping the 2012 Olympic team win, Kyla stepped down from elite gymnastics to focus on NCAA gymnastics at UCLA. Her final collegiate competition was in 2020.<\/p>\n Eventually, Kyla joined the UCLA coaching staff while still studying molecular, cell, and developmental biology.
