Claudia Doumit likes her nose, but that wasn\u2019t always the case. For a long time, she had many people in her ear telling her about her nose, giving her unwanted takes on what it should look like should she make it big.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The actor, known for The Boys<\/em>, recently opened<\/a> up about how Hollywood pressured her to get plastic surgery. She eventually dismissed the idea, but explained how it took time and effort to get past it.<\/p>\n While at 2024 Comic-Con International, Doumit said that she was encouraged to get a nose job when trying to book a leading gig or the pretty ing\u00e9nue role. \u201cThat was fed to me for many, many years,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n When she was younger, Doumit had planned on getting work done to her face. But after she got her first break, and second job, and one after that, she didn\u2019t get surgery. \u201cI kept booking jobs and not getting nose jobs,\u201d she said. Taking a step back, she saw that the pressure she received from others wasn\u2019t reflective of the truth.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cI kind of realized one day that I was booking jobs with the way that I looked,\u201d she said to a clapping audience. The idealization for a smaller nose is likely part of a larger narrative regarding Hollywood\u2019s push towards Western beauty standards, which often reflect racist and sexist norms.\u00a0<\/p>\n Doumit is proud of her features, brushing off the agents\u2019 feedback and proving their comments to be outdated. \u201cIt\u2019s a beautiful half-Lebanese, half-Italian nose. It\u2019s very strong,\u201d she said, adding that she wants to see \u201cmore big noses on women on the screen. So go, baby.\u201d<\/p>\n Whether anyone chooses to get work done to their face is a personal choice, though Hollywood still takes free liberties to judge, especially when it comes to women. In fact, Doumit\u2019s The Boys<\/em> co-star Erin Moriarty had briefly quit social media<\/a> due to comments about her potentially getting work done.\u00a0<\/p>\n After conservative media personality Megyn Kelly alleged Moriarty got plastic surgery, the actor said the claim was \u201cdisgustingly false\u201d and expressed her disappointment surrounding the discourse about her face. \u201cIt\u2019s broken my heart. You\u2019ve broken my heart. You\u2019ve lost the privilege of this account,\u201d Moriarty said.<\/p>\n It\u2019s a damned-if-you-do or damned-if-you-don\u2019t type of situation regarding plastic surgery,\u00a0but recently some of the taboo<\/a> regarding procedures has appeared to wane to some degree.<\/p>\n In Doumit\u2019s words, it\u2019s quite simple. \u201cI\u2019m doing the thing I love, and I\u2019m doing it the way I look,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd it\u2019s not what the traditional narrative is.
