Sinead O\u2019Connor\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>full cause of death has been released. Her family shared the details about her passing\u00a0 by releasing her death certificate to the\u00a0Irish Independent<\/em><\/a> on the first anniversary of her death on Friday, July 26. The outlet revealed that the Irish music icon had been struggling with respiratory issues at the time of her death in July 2023.<\/p>\n

The outlet said that Sinead\u2019s death came after she was struggling with \u201cexacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and bronchial asthma together with low grade lower respiratory tract infection,\u201d according to\u00a0People<\/em><\/a>. Sinead\u2019s death certificate had been formally registered by her ex-husband John Reynolds <\/strong>with the Inner South London coroner on Wednesday, July 24.<\/p>\n

Prior to the recent revelations, Sinead\u2019s cause of death<\/a> had been revealed to be natural causes in January. The London Inner South Coroner\u2019s Court shared that it had ended its investigation into the singer\u2019s death in a statement at the time. No further details about the \u201cNothing Compares 2 U\u201d singer\u2019s passing were released at that time.<\/p>\n

Sinead died at 56 in London on July 26, 2023. Following her death, \u201cThe Emperor\u2019s New Clothes\u201d singer\u2019s family released a statement confirming that she had died. \u201cIt is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sin\u00e9ad. Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n

Sinead is survived by three of her four children. Her son Shane died by suicide in 2022. He was 17. Following his tragic death, the singer shared many troubling messages on her social media accounts.<\/p>\n

Sinead\u2019s death came nearly a decade after she released her final album, 2014\u2019s\u00a0I\u2019m Not Bossy, I\u2019m The Boss.\u00a0<\/em>In 2020, she released her final single \u201cTrouble of the World.\u201d In 2021, she released her memoir\u00a0Rememberings.\u00a0<\/em>Since her death, countless artists from various genres have released tributes to her, including boygenius, the Foo Fighters,\u00a0P!nk<\/strong>, and many more. Earlier in the week, a documentary on her life called\u00a0Nothing Compares\u00a0<\/em>was made available to stream for seven days.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
