Meanwhile, recruiters globally are <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2023\/08\/15\/linkedin-employment-recruiting-college-graduates-university-degrees-job-ads\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/2023\/08\/15\/linkedin-employment-recruiting-college-graduates-university-degrees-job-ads\/\" class=\"sc-82aca549-0 klXAci\" rel=\"noopener\">five times more likely<\/a> to search for new hires by skills over higher education.<\/p>\n<p>JPMorgan\u2019s CEO Jamie Dimon recently revealed that the Wall Street giant has hired \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2024\/07\/15\/jamie-dimon-jpmorgan-hiring-employees-ex-felons\/?utm_source=search&amp;utm_medium=suggested_search&amp;utm_campaign=search_link_clicks\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/2024\/07\/15\/jamie-dimon-jpmorgan-hiring-employees-ex-felons\/?utm_source=search&amp;utm_medium=suggested_search&amp;utm_campaign=search_link_clicks\" class=\"sc-82aca549-0 klXAci\" rel=\"noopener\">four or five thousand ex-felons<\/a>\u201d because talent doesn\u2019t just come out of colleges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think necessarily because you go to an Ivy League school or have great grades it means you\u2019re going to be a great worker, great person or something like that,\u201d he said. \u201cIf you look at skills of people it is amazing how skilled people are in something, but it didn\u2019t show up on their resume.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, Apple\u2019s CEO Tim Cook has echoed that there is a \u201cmismatch between the skills that are coming out of colleges and what the skills are that we believe we need in the future.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s why he said that aspiring coders, in particular, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/apple-ceo-tim-cook-why-college-degree-isnt-necessary-2019-3?r=US&amp;IR=T\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/apple-ceo-tim-cook-why-college-degree-isnt-necessary-2019-3?r=US&amp;IR=T\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"sc-82aca549-0 klXAci\">don\u2019t need a degree to be successful<\/a> at the American Workforce Policy Advisory Board meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Cisco\u2019s top executive in the U.K., David Meads, <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/europe\/2023\/10\/29\/ciscos-executive-david-meads-college-dropout-ceo-interview-university\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/europe\/2023\/10\/29\/ciscos-executive-david-meads-college-dropout-ceo-interview-university\/\" class=\"sc-82aca549-0 klXAci\" rel=\"noopener\">dropped out of school at 16 years old<\/a>.
