The message stated, in part, that CrowdStrike knows that it knows that its botched update has caused \u201cadditional work\u201d for those IT partners. It added, \u201cAnd for that, we send our heartfelt thanks and apologies for the inconvenience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The message ended with CrowdStrike stating, \u201cTo express our gratitude, your next cup of coffee or late night snack is on us!\u201d It included a code for the Uber Eats promotion, or users could access a QR code.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">lol Crowdstrike crashed millions of computers with a glitch and then sent an apology to partners in the form of a $10 Uber Eats gift card <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/6ZaYdf1TS6\">pic.twitter.com\/6ZaYdf1TS6<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Sheel Mohnot (@pitdesi) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/pitdesi\/status\/1816142541089300536?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 24, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Some users have <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ChrisTappin\/status\/1816124029654425627\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> the emails were signed by Daniel Bernard, the company\u2019s chief business officer. In the UK, the amount was <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/david__exe\/status\/1815908023296221372\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> to be around \u00a37.75, which is around $10 at today\u2019s (July 24) exchange rate.<\/p>\n<p>One user quipped, \u201cCrowdStrike sending out an UberEats credit to everyone as a \u2018my bad yall\u2019 is so Gen Z.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While another said: \u201cThe Uber Eats voucher in the email to partners stating \u2018your next cup of coffee or late night snack is on us\u2019 fails with \u2018We\u2019re sorry, this voucher has been cancelled by the issuing party and is no longer valid\u2019 (at least in Aus).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Oddly enough some of the recipients tried to redeem their snack on CrowdStrike\u2019s dime, only to find the Uber Eats voucher \u201chas been canceled by the issuing party and is no longer valid.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some mocked the fact that the amount was barely \u201cenough for a pizza party!\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Not even enough for a pizza party!<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 $0.02timmy (@002timmyNFTs) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/002timmyNFTs\/status\/1816156348507123855?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 24, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In what may go down in the annals of corporate apologies as a classic \u201cwhat not to do,\u201d CrowdStrike\u2019s $10 olive branch has certainly fed the social media frenzy if not the stomachs of its intended recipients.<\/p>\n<h2>Largest outage in IT history<\/h2>\n<p>Around 8.5 million devices were impacted in what was described as \u201cthe largest IT outage in history\u201d with CrowdStrike stating a significant number are now back online.<\/p>\n<p>An apology was issued as part of the response from the company in recent days.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe understand the profound impact this has had on everyone.
