The popular tourist spot is located roughly two miles northwest of Old Faithful.<\/p>\n<div class=\"group\/conversation-turn relative flex w-full min-w-0 flex-col agent-turn\">\n<div class=\"flex-col gap-1 md:gap-3\">\n<div class=\"flex flex-grow flex-col max-w-full\">\n<div class=\"min-h-[20px] text-message flex w-full flex-col items-end gap-2 whitespace-pre-wrap break-words [.text-message+&amp;]:mt-5 overflow-x-auto\" dir=\"auto\" data-message-author-role=\"assistant\" data-message-id=\"4aee93fd-8963-4bb2-b6c1-02c829272dfd\">\n<div class=\"flex w-full flex-col gap-1 empty:hidden first:pt-[3px]\">\n<div class=\"markdown prose w-full break-words dark:prose-invert light\">\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-4\"><strong>Michael Poland<\/strong>, the scientist-in-charge at the U.S. Geological Survey\u2019s Yellowstone Volcano Observatory, said in an information statement early Tuesday afternoon that there had so far been no injuries reported in the explosion.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-5\">\u201cMonitoring data show no changes in the Yellowstone region. There was a similar explosion in Biscuit Bay in May 2009 and a smaller explosion in Norris Geyser Basin on April 15. Porkchop Geyser in Norris Geyser Basin exploded in 1989.<\/p>\n<div class=\"group\/conversation-turn relative flex w-full min-w-0 flex-col agent-turn\">\n<div class=\"flex-col gap-1 md:gap-3\">\n<div class=\"flex flex-grow flex-col max-w-full\">\n<div class=\"min-h-[20px] text-message flex w-full flex-col items-end gap-2 whitespace-pre-wrap break-words [.text-message+&amp;]:mt-5 overflow-x-auto\" dir=\"auto\" data-message-author-role=\"assistant\" data-message-id=\"270975af-93e5-42d5-bafb-0c7486a1c3e2\">\n<div class=\"flex w-full flex-col gap-1 empty:hidden first:pt-[3px]\">\n<div class=\"markdown prose w-full break-words dark:prose-invert light\">\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-8\">Taking place as often as twice a year, frequently in the backcountry, hydrothermal explosions can go undetected other than by monitoring equipment, according to Mr. Poland. This explosion, however, was fully documented by tourists with smartphones.<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-9\">\u201cIt\u2019s really quite dramatic,\u201d Mr. Poland said of the footage.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-10\">Facebook user <strong>Vlada March<\/strong>, who posted the video, wrote on the platform that the explosion occurred right in front of her and her family. Ms. March said about her mother, \u201cshe was covered in ash, head to toe,\u201d after looking for her frantically and shouting for her two young sons to run away.<\/p>\n<p id=\"content-paragraph-11\">\u201cBoardwalk destroyed, my mom got some of the debris but everyone is safe.
