Chet Hanks<\/strong><\/a> has opened up about his experience on the reality show The Surreal Life: Villa of Secrets <\/em>while being almost 10 years sober.<\/p>\n The eldest son of Tom Hanks<\/strong><\/a> and Rita Wilson<\/strong><\/a>, who got sober before becoming a father to his daughter Michaiah<\/strong>\u00a0in April 2016, whom he shares with ex Tiffany Miles<\/strong>, told Page Six<\/em><\/a> that he did not feel any temptation to partake in drinking while filming Surreal Life<\/em>, despite being surrounded by booze.<\/p>\n MTV announces the celebrity cast lineup for the upcoming season of \u2018The Surreal Life\u2019:<\/p>\n \u2022 Chet Hanks \u2014 Pop Crave (@PopCrave) June 28, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n \u201cYeah, I don\u2019t even think about that,\u201d he says. \u201cIt\u2019s, like, not even on my radar \u2014 like, the thought of taking a drink or whatnot. So it\u2019s, like, not even a blip on the radar.\u201d<\/p>\n However, the 33-year-old admitted previously on an episode of Bradley Martyn<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s Raw Talk podcast<\/a> that it wasn\u2019t alcohol that gave him the most trouble, but rather cocaine<\/a>. \u201cThe drug I had the most problem with was just f\u2013king coke, dude.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI would go do coke with the cokeheads,\u201d he continued, \u201cand they would be telling me, like, \u2018Yo, chill, bro. Wait a second. Give it like 15 minutes.’\u201d<\/p>\n He added, \u201cI couldn\u2019t get enough of that.\u201d<\/p>\n When he was 17, his parents\u2014who noticed \u201csuch an abrupt change that it was concerning,\u201d he said\u2014staged an intervention.<\/p>\n \u201cI wake up in the morning,\u201d he explained, \u201cit\u2019s 4 o\u2019clock in the morning and there are two huge f**king dudes standing at the foot of my bed, looking at me. And they go, \u2018You\u2019re coming with us.’\u201d<\/p>\n Chet mentioned, \u201cIt\u2019s nothing against them, man.\u201d He also noted how his parents \u201cwere supportive\u201d of his decision to join the cast of the reality series, as he told Us Weekly<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n Chet said, \u201cThey definitely have said [no reality TV] in regard to the typical reality shows. When this came up, we discussed it and everybody agreed. We all agreed that this could be a really great opportunity for me, and it was perfect.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThey were really supportive. I was excited and everybody was,\u201d remarked the rapper.<\/p>\n As an actor, rapper, and YouTuber, Chet has appeared in recurring roles on TV series such as Empire, Shameless<\/em>, and Your Honor<\/em>, as well as scoring guest roles on Curb Your Enthusiasm <\/em>and Atlanta<\/em>. The Surreal Life<\/em> was Chet\u2019s first foray into an unscripted reality series, and he suggested that, despite having nearly a decade of sobriety under his belt, newly sober individuals should be more cognizant of their surroundings.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n \u201cFor somebody who might be earlier in their sobriety where it still is a temptation, my advice would just be, like, remove yourself from that environment,\u201d he suggested.<\/p>\n\n
