Kim Cattrall<\/strong> <\/a>kindly<\/em> shut down rumors of her return to the Sex and the City<\/em> franchise with one sentence.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cAw that\u2019s so kind but I\u2019m not,\u201d she said on Sunday, July 21, in response to an Elle<\/em><\/a> headline that stated \u201cIt Looks Like Samantha Jones Will Be Back For \u2018And Just Like That\u2026\u2019 Season 3 After All.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rumors have been circling that Cattrall, 67, would return for the revival series, which follows the SATC<\/em> ladies Carrie, played by Sarah Jessica Parker<\/strong><\/a>, Charlotte, played by Kristin Davis<\/strong><\/a>, and Miranda, played by Cynthia Nixon<\/strong><\/a>, as they navigate life and love in New York in their 50s.<\/p>\n

Cattrall played the sexually empowered publicist Samantha Jones for the original\u00a0HBO\u00a0show\u2019s six-season run from 1998 to 2004, as well as the feature adaptations that hit theaters in 2008 and 2010.<\/p>\n

Following 2010\u2019s movie Sex and the City 2,<\/em> Cattrall declined to do a third film and was not asked to return for And Just Like That<\/em>. She did, however, surprise fans by making a brief cameo as Samantha at the end of the show\u2019s second season last year. When\u00a0news broke of her season 2 cameo, Cattrall clarified that she had no plans to reprise the role of Samantha in a larger capacity.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is as far as I\u2019m going to go,\u201d she told\u00a0Today<\/em><\/a> in 2023.<\/p>\n

But, she added, \u201cI don\u2019t think I\u2019ll ever say goodbye to Samantha. She\u2019s like a lot of other characters that I\u2019ve done over the years. I get very emotionally attached and protective of my characters. She gave me so much, and I\u2019m so appreciative of her.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actress previously opened up about not wanting to be part of the new show, telling Variety<\/em><\/a>\u00a0in May 2022 that she didn\u2019t like how her character was represented in the script for the never-produced third movie.\u00a0She called the portrayal \u201cheartbreaking\u201d and said that it turned her off from reprising her role as Samantha.<\/p>\n

Cattrall also spoke about the difficulties of playing a character for multiple decades, as the first season of Sex and the City<\/em>\u00a0premiered in 1998.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverything has to grow, or it dies. I felt that when the series ended, I thought that\u2019s smart. We\u2019re not repeating ourselves,\u201d she told the outlet. \u201cAnd then the movie to end all the loose ends. And then there\u2019s another movie. And then there\u2019s another movie?\u201d<\/p>\n

In person, Cattrall \u2014 who was born in Liverpool, England, and grew up in British Columbia \u2014 doesn\u2019t sound or move like Samantha. A self-described serial monogamist, she recently celebrated her six-year anniversary with her partner Russell Thomas<\/a>, <\/strong>53.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
