After three and a half years of serving as the U.S. vice president, Kamala Harris<\/strong> is the presumptive Democratic Party nominee for the 2024 presidential election. Now that President Joe Biden<\/strong><\/a> has stepped down from a possible reelection, voters are speculating<\/a> who could be Harris\u2019 running mate.<\/p>\n \u201cOn behalf of the American people, I thank Joe Biden for his extraordinary leadership as President of the United States and for his decades of service to our country,\u201d Harris wrote in a statement after Biden announced his decision to drop out. \u201cI am honored to have the President\u2019s endorsement and my intention is to earn and win this nomination.\u201d<\/p>\n Shapiro is the Democratic Governor of Pennsylvania. Kelly has advocated for gun-control regulations throughout his political career. As the first openly gay Cabinet member of the U.S. Senate, Buttigieg gained widespread support among younger voters and Democrats alike.
