The idea was clear: to ensure a safe educational environment, equip the students with German, and make sure they could continue their education.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2024 the Free People Educational Hub in Vienna is still running. Two of the school\u2019s students, Lena and Maria, interview Irena Khamayko in this first episode of the Knowledgeable Youth podcast series. They discuss language barriers, the Austrian school system and the challenges of making friends in a new country.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A\/\/api.soundcloud.com\/tracks\/1828433220&amp;color=%23ff5500&amp;auto_play=true&amp;hide_related=false&amp;show_comments=true&amp;show_user=true&amp;show_reposts=false&amp;show_teaser=true\" width=\"100%\" height=\"166\" frameborder=\"no\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This series is developed by students from the Free People Educational Hub\u2013 a school for young people from Ukraine based in Vienna, who have been displaced by Russia\u2019s war on Ukraine. Together, they explore current themes in the social sciences, together with researchers.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This project was co-ordinated by Carine Chen (Eurozine) and Irena Remestwenski (RECET).<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Knowledgeable Youth: Science Communication in Times of War is co-organised by Eurozine, RECET, Radio Orange and the Free People Educational Hub in Vienna. The project is funded by the Cultural Department of the City of Vienna.
