Kim Kardashian<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>admitted that one of her sons has vitiligo while discussing her own battle with psoriasis, on the She MD\u00a0<\/em>podcast on Monday, July 15. The SKIMS founder, 43, admitted that her own genes with psoriasis came from her mother, but she admitted that one of her boys, received the gene and got vitiligo. She also explained that the kids she shares with\u00a0Kanye West<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>also have \u201ca little bit of eczema.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kim didn\u2019t specify whether it was\u00a0Saint<\/strong><\/a>, 8, or\u00a0Psalm<\/strong><\/a>, 5, who had the condition, but she explained that it\u2019s currently \u201cunder control\u201d in the interview. \u201cI passed it on in a different form to my son, who has vitiligo very mildly,\u201d she said, via\u00a0Page Six<\/a>. \u201c<\/em>I didn\u2019t know anything about it, but having to learn about it and figuring out where it came from and that it\u2019s hereditary and just learning more and being able to share that [has been a blessing].\u201d<\/p>\n

Vitiligo is an autoimmune disorder, which \u201ccauses patches of skin to lose pigment or color,\u201d according to the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases<\/a>. \u201cIn vitiligo, the white patches usually appear symmetrically on both sides of your body, such as on both hands or both knees. Sometimes, there can be a rapid loss of color or pigment and even cover a large area,\u201d the Institute\u2019s website states.<\/p>\n

Some of the most famous cases of vitiligo include\u00a0Michael<\/strong> Jackson<\/strong>, Joe Rogan<\/strong>, and model Winnie Harlow<\/strong>. It affects between .5 and 1 percent of the world\u2019s population, according to Pfizer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Kim has been very forthcoming about her battle with psoriasis<\/a>. She\u2019s explained that she uses a tanning bed in her office to help treat the condition, but she doesn\u2019t use it often. She shared a bunch of videos from an intense flare-up in January 2024. \u201cNot gonna lie this is painful. Not sure what my triggers are. I haven\u2019t changed my diet. I\u2019ve tried everything! Psoriasis sucks,\u201d she wrote on an Instagram Story.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
