In the aftermath of Donald Trump\u2019s attempted assassination<\/a>, JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon has joined the growing list of executives to denounce political violence.\u00a0<\/p>\n On behalf of the \u201centire leadership team\u201d at America\u2019s biggest bank, Dimon wrote that everyone must \u201cstand firmly together against any acts of hate, intimidation or violence that seek to undermine our democracy or inflict harm.\u201d<\/p>\n The 68-year-old concluded the note by asking employees to unite \u201cthrough constructive dialogue\u201d\u2014whatever their political beliefs.<\/p>\n He also took a moment to share his well wishes with the 45th president and his family, along with the families of the victims of the attack.<\/p>\n The attempt on Trump\u2019s life during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday resulted in the death of one rally attendee, Corey Comperatore, and seriously injured two others.\u00a0<\/p>\n Trump suffered an upper ear injury. However, the former president has since insisted that had he not turned his head slightly to the right in that moment, he would \u201cbe dead<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n The memo read, as confirmed by JPMorgan to Fortune<\/em>:<\/p>\n \u201cWe are deeply saddened by the political violence and the assassination attempt on former President Trump last evening. On behalf of our entire leadership team, our thoughts today are with the former President, his family and the families of those who were tragically injured and killed.<\/p>\n \u201cWe must all stand firmly together against any acts of hate, intimidation or violence that seek to undermine our democracy or inflict harm. It is only through constructive dialogue that we can tackle our nation\u2019s toughest challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n The Wall Street titan\u2019s memo rings similar to other CEOs who have spoken out<\/a> since the attack.<\/p>\n \u201cI wish President Trump all the best for a full recovery, and I\u2019m sending my thoughts to the innocent victims of yesterday\u2019s senseless act,\u201d General Motors<\/a> CEO Mary Barra wrote on X<\/a>. \u201cThere is no room for political violence in our society.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n OpenAI CEO Sam Altman echoed<\/a> that he\u2019s \u201choping this can be a moment where we stare into the abyss and be grateful that there but for the grace of god went we, and collectively decide to turn down the rhetoric and find slightly more unity.\u201d<\/p>\n Goldman Sachs<\/a> CEO David Solomon similarly called the shooting a \u201chorrible act of violence\u201d during an earnings call on Monday morning.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cWe are grateful that he is safe and also want to extend my sincere condolences to the families of those who were tragically killed and severely injured,\u201d Solomon said. \u201cIt is a sad moment for our country. There\u2019s no place in our politics for violence.\u201d<\/p>\n Meanwhile, BlackRock\u2019s CEO Larry Fink told CNBC<\/em><\/a> that this weekend\u2019s events were \u201ca tragedy.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt is a statement of America today, though. We need to create hope. All of us have a responsibility, every political candidate, every leader, every pastor, minister, rabbi, we all have a responsibility of bringing our community together to bring hope.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n Although such extreme acts of violence are uncommon\u2014the Trump attack was the most serious attempt to kill a president or presidential candidate since Ronald Reagan was shot<\/a> in 1981\u2014political polarization is on the up.\u00a0<\/p>\n In the aftermath of President Joe Biden and Trump\u2019s debate on June 27, 64% of U.S. workers revealed that they experienced or witnessed people being treated poorly in the workplace<\/a> due to their political views.<\/p>\n What\u2019s more, research has shown that young people today are even less tolerant of others\u2019 views than their parents or grandparents and, as a result, are less liberal than previous generations.\u00a0<\/p>\n The study<\/a>, commissioned by Channel 4, revealed that a quarter of the Gen Z respondents said they have \u201cvery little tolerance for people with beliefs I disagree with,\u201d while nearly half agreed that \u201csome people deserved to be canceled.\u201d<\/p>\n That\u2019s why, in recent years, some CEOs have resisted Dimon\u2019s request that workers engage in constructive dialogue and banned political talk in the office altogether.<\/p>\n Earlier this year, Google<\/a> CEO Sundar Pichai warned staff that the office is not a place \u201cto fight over disruptive issues or debate politics.\u201d<\/p>\n Although he noted that Google has previously enjoyed \u201ca culture of vibrant, open discussion\u201d that drove innovation, it\u2019s since become a great source of tension across the business.\u00a0<\/p>\n Likewise, the Silicon Valley-based cryptocurrency company Coinbase<\/a> announced at the start of the pandemic that it would no longer allow discussions of politics and social issues at work and that staffers who don\u2019t like that are free to leave<\/a>.<\/p>\n\nRead Dimon\u2019s email memo sent to JPMorgan employees\u00a0<\/h2>\n
