Trump\u2019s campaign said the presumptive Republican nominee was doing \u201cfine\u201d after being whisked off the stage though the shooting pierced the upper part of his right ear.<\/p>\n
The Secret Service said it killed the suspected shooter who attacked from an elevated position outside the rally venue.<\/p>\n
U.S. authorities are still investigating the shooting.<\/p>\n
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese condemned the \u201cinexcusable attack\u201d on the United States and Australia\u2019s shared democratic values.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn Australia, as in the United States, the essence and the purpose of our democracies is that we can express our views, debate our disagreements and resolve our differences peacefully,\u201d Albanese told reporters in the Australian Parliament House.<\/p>\n
Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer said on X<\/a> that he was appalled by the attempt.<\/p>\n \u201cPolitical violence has no place in our society!\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Brazil\u2019s president, Luiz In\u00e1cio Lula da Silva, called the incident unacceptable on X and said the attack must be \u201cstrongly repudiated\u201d by all democracy defenders.<\/p>\n His predecessor, Jair Bolsonaro, who is a close Trump ally, relayed his solidarity with \u201cthe world\u2019s greatest leader of the moment.\u201d Bolsonaro was stabbed in the abdomen at a campaign event ahead of the 2018 presidential election, which he went on to win.<\/p>\n Trump, he told reporters, was saved by a matter of a few centimeters. \u201cThis \u2014 to understand \u2014 is something that comes from above,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he was sickened by the shooting and his thoughts were with Trump, those at the event and all Americans.<\/p>\n \u201cIt cannot be overstated \u2014 political violence is never acceptable,\u201d he wrote on X.<\/p>\n The Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement that China is concerned about the attack and President Xi Jinping has already extended his sympathies to Trump.<\/p>\n Wishing Trump a speedy recovery, Czech President Petr Pavel said there\u2019s \u201cno place for violence in a democratic society,\u201d adding that politicians\u201d need to try to calm the situation down.\u201d<\/p>\n Egyptian President Abdelfattah El Sissi stressed his country\u2019s condemnation of the attack in a statement and wished for the U.S. election campaigns to resume peacefully.<\/p>\n French President Emmanuel Macron sent his wishes to Trump for a prompt recovery. \u201cIt is a drama for our democracies. France shares the indignation of the American people,\u201d he posted on X.<\/p>\n German Chancellor Olaf Scholz posted on X saying the attack was \u201cdespicable\u201d and such violent acts threaten democracy. \u201cMy compassionate thoughts are also with the other people who were hurt in the attack,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said his thoughts and prayers were with Trump \u201cin these dark hours\u201d on X.<\/p>\n India\u2019s prime minister, Narendra Modi, said he was deeply concerned by \u201cthe attack on my friend.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cStrongly condemn the incident. Violence has no place in politics and democracies,\u201d he wrote on X.<\/p>\n Masrour Barzani, the prime minister of the Kurdistan region of Iraq, condemned the attack \u201cin the strongest terms,\u201d saying on X his thoughts are with the victims of \u201cthis senseless act of terrorism.\u201d<\/p>\n At the start of the weekly Cabinet meeting in Jerusalem, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he watched \u201cin horror,\u201d adding that the attack was also an \u201cassassination attempt on American democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n He said everyone in Israel was sending Trump wishes for \u201ca quick recovery and return to full strength.\u201d<\/p>\n Italian President Sergio Mattarella said in a statement the attack was a cause for serious alarm and \u201ca disconcerting symptom of the deterioration of the civil fabric and of the dangerous refusal of confrontation, dialogue and respect for democratic life.\u201d<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Premier Giorgia Meloni wished Trump a quick recovery.<\/p>\n \u201cWe must stand firm against any form of violence that challenges democracy,\u201d Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said on X.<\/p>\n Mexico\u2019s president, Andr\u00e9s Manuel L\u00f3pez Obrador, denounced the attack on X and said \u201cviolence is irrational and inhumane.\u201d<\/p>\n Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called the shooting a \u201cshocking development.\u201d He said he condemned all violence in politics and wished the former president a swift recovery and good health.<\/p>\n And imprisoned Pakistani opposition leader and former prime minister Imran Khan, who was shot and injured at a rally in November 2022, wished Trump a full recovery. \u201cPolitical violence is a tool of cowards and has no place in a democracy,\u201d he said on X.<\/p>\n Russian President Vladimir Putin has no plans at present to call Trump, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.<\/p>\n \u201cWe do not at all think or believe that the attempt to eliminate presidential candidate Trump was organized by the current government, but the atmosphere that this administration created during the political struggle, the atmosphere around candidate Trump provoked what America is faced with today,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Russian foreign ministry, said earlier Sunday on her Telegram channel that American lawmakers should employ the money they use to supply weapons to Ukraine \u201cto finance the American police and other services which should ensure law and order within the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n South African President Cyril Ramaphosa wrote on X that the attempted assassination of Trump \u201cis a stark reminder of the dangers of political extremism and intolerance.\u201d<\/p>\n Ramaphosa also voiced his hope that \u201cthe citizens and leaders of America will have the fortitude and sagacity to reject violence and seek peaceful solutions.\u201d<\/p>\nBrazil<\/h4>\n
