Huma Abedin<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0former aide to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton<\/strong><\/a>, is engaged to Alex Soros<\/strong>, son of billionaire hedge fund manager and philanthropist\u00a0 George Soros.<\/strong><\/p>\n The couple announced their engagement Wednesday\u00a0on Instagram<\/a> with a photo of Soros, 38, getting down on his knee in front of 47-year-old Abedin in a scenic location. Their joined post had the caption: \u201cthis happened\u2026we couldn\u2019t be happier, more grateful, or more in love \u2764\ufe0f \ud83d\ude0d \ud83d\udc8d\u201d<\/p>\n Sources revealed to Vogue<\/a><\/em> that Soros proposed to Abedin at their home in New York City in May before they traveled to Italy for a formal celebration. The couple shared with the magazine that they first met in the fall of 2023 at a mutual friend\u2019s birthday party.<\/p>\n \u201cThe best way I can describe the relationship is effortless,\u201d a friend of Abedin\u2019s for over 15 years told Page Six<\/em><\/a>.\u00a0 \u201cAfter a lot of tumultuous years for Huma, she\u2019s relaxed and happy and in love,\u201d the insider added.<\/p>\n From 2010 to 2017, the MSNBC contributor and author of the 2021 memoir Both\/And: A Life in Many Worlds<\/em> was married to former U.S. representative Anthony Weiner<\/strong><\/a>, 59. She filed for divorce\u00a0after the disgraced congressman pleaded guilty to transmitting sexual\u00a0material to a minor in May 2017. He served 18 months in federal prison for the charge.<\/p>\n After a decade of declining to comment on Weiner\u2019s infidelity and avoiding paparazzi, Abedin said in 2021 that she was ready to take back her life.<\/p>\n \u201cI walked with so much shame for so long and I really wanted to take the power away from that,\u201d she said.\u00a0\u201cThis is clearing the slate. I have nothing to hide.\u201d<\/p>\n A source previously told Page Six<\/em> of Soros, \u201cAlex started to get more politically active 10 years ago when he was still finishing college. He started hosting his own events, not just for the Clintons, but for congressional candidates.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHe literally grew up with his dad hosting and being the biggest Democratic donor in\u00a0American politics,\u201d the source added.<\/p>\n Together since then, they\u2019ve attended several high-profile engagements together, including a White House state dinner honoring the Kenyan president, William Ruto<\/strong>, and the 2024 Met Gala. Through their marriage, Soros will become stepfather to Abedin\u2019s 12-year-old son Jordan<\/strong>, whom she shares with Weiner.<\/p>\n After the news was reported of Abedin\u2019s engagement, Page Six <\/em><\/a>reached out to Weiner via email for a comment to which he replied, \u201cI\u2019m thrilled for Huma.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThey are remarkable people and I wish them much happiness.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n\n<\/blockquote>\n
