George Clooney<\/strong><\/a> has joined the pool of celebrities who have urged President Joe Biden<\/strong><\/a> to step down from the race. In a new op-ed written for The New York Times<\/em><\/a>, the 63-year-old movie star emphasized that the 81-year-old politician is a \u201chero\u201d but claimed he \u201ccannot\u201d win against Donald Trump<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI love Joe Biden,\u201d George began in the essay that was published on Wednesday, July 10. \u201cAs a senator. As a vice president and as president. I consider him a friend, and I believe in him. Believe in his character. Believe in his morals. In the last four years, he\u2019s won many of the battles he\u2019s faced.\u201d<\/p>\n However, the Up in the Air<\/em> actor noted, \u201cBut the one battle he cannot win is the fight against time. None of us can.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fundraiser was not the Joe \u2018big F-ing deal\u2019 Biden of 2010,\u201d George admitted, before adding, \u201cHe wasn\u2019t even the Joe Biden of 2020. Every single one, irrespective of what he or she is saying publicly.\u201d<\/p>\n Without naming any of the apparent politicians he\u2019s spoken to, George concluded his op-ed by calling the president a \u201chero\u201d and noted that he \u201csaved democracy in 2020.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe need him to do it again in 2024,\u201d George added, referring to the choice for Joe to withdraw from the race.<\/p>\n After the debate against Donald aired last month, multiple politicians have publicly pleaded for Joe to step aside. However, the president insisted that he is staying in the race, according to a letter obtained by CNN<\/a> earlier this week.<\/p>\n \u201cI want you to know that despite all the speculation in the press and elsewhere, I am firmly committed to staying in this race, to running this race to the end, and to beating Donald Trump,\u201d Joe wrote. \u201cWe have 42 days to the Democratic Convention and 119 days to the general election. Any weakening of resolve or lack of clarity about the task ahead only helps Trump and hurts us.
