Lena Dunham\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>drew on her personal experiences for the upcoming Netflix series\u00a0Too Much<\/em>, but she explained her reasons for not wanting to act in it in a new interview with\u00a0The New Yorker<\/em><\/a>, published on Tuesday, July 9. Reflecting on her time making the critically-acclaimed series\u00a0Girls,<\/em> Lena, 38, said that part of the reason was because she didn\u2019t want to have her \u201cbody dissected\u201d like when she starred in the HBO series. \u201cI knew from the very beginning I would not be the star of it,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Lena explained that one of the primary reasons that she wouldn\u2019t star in the series was, because she was excited to work with\u00a0Hacks\u00a0<\/em>actress\u00a0Megan Stalter<\/strong>, who she was very complimentary to. \u201cI had seen Meg Stalter\u2019s work, and I was very inspired by her. She\u2019s unbelievable; I think people are going to be so blown away. We know how funny she is,\u201d she said. \u201cThere\u2019s an openness to Meg\u2019s presence that I think goes a long way. She has whatever the opposite of resting b***h face is. She has resting angel face.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actress continued and then reflected on her time on her previous hit sitcom. \u201cI also think that I was not willing to have another experience like what I\u2019d experienced around\u00a0Girls<\/em> at this point in my life. Physically, I was just not up for having my body dissected again,\u201d she said. \u201cI forgot that winning is actually just protecting yourself and doing what you need to do to keep making work.\u201d<\/p>\n

Too Much\u00a0<\/em>is about an American woman who moves to London following a breakup. It tracks the connection that she makes with a new man, played by\u00a0Will Sharpe<\/strong>. The series has a ten episode run, and it will premiere on Netflix.<\/p>\n

Lena co-created the series with her husband\u00a0Luis Felber<\/strong>, and she\u2019s spoken about the excitement to work with Netflix on the project. \u201cNetflix has been so deeply supportive of the vision, which is to create a romantic comedy that makes us root for love, brings joy but also has the jagged edges of life,\u201d she told the streamer\u2019s news site Tudum<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
