He also said the <a href=\"https:\/\/readwrite.com\/first-neuralink-patient-says-implant-is-like-an-aimbot-for-gaming-explains-how-gaming-industry-may-have-to-change\/\">merging of our brains with AI<\/a> will occur around 2045.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/readwrite.com\/ray-kurzweil-father-of-the-singularity-is-going-to-work-at-google\/\">Kurzweil<\/a> also works at Google as a \u2018Principal Researcher\u2019 in AI. Now, almost 20 years on from the book\u2019s debut, he has spoken with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/technology\/article\/2024\/jun\/29\/ray-kurzweil-google-ai-the-singularity-is-nearer\">The Guardian<\/a> about his predictions and new book titled \u2018The Singularity is Nearer.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>He believes his 2005 estimations still stand true as he expects 2029 to remain an accurate date for \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/readwrite.com\/how-to-use-meta-ai-in-whatsapp-instagram-and-facebook\/\">human-level intelligence<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHuman-level intelligence generally means AI that has reached the ability of the most skilled humans in a particular domain and by 2029 that will be achieved in most respects.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere may be a few years of transition beyond 2029 where AI has not surpassed the top humans in a few key skills like writing Oscar-winning screenplays or generating deep new philosophical insights, though it will.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He explains how computing power will enable improvements in contextual memory, common sense reasoning, and social interaction which are areas that aren\u2019t yet up to scratch.<\/p>\n<h2><b>Upcoming AI predictions include nanobots in the brain<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Kurzweil says that we\u2019re soon going to be \u201ca combination of cybernetic intelligence\u201d which will be made possible by \u201cbrain-computer interfaces which ultimately will be nanobots.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He believes the nanobots will be the size of molecules and they\u2019ll noninvasively go into our brains through the capillaries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThink of it like having your phone, but in your brain.
