Lana Del Rey<\/b><\/a> has a new album coming out \u2013 with a twist! For the first time in her career, Lana, 39, is releasing a country album, titled Lasso<\/em>, that she officially announced back in January. \u201cWe\u2019re going country,\u201d Lana said at a Billboard\u00a0<\/em>event ahead of the 2024 Grammy Awards<\/a>. Now, Lana has released the country-tinged single \u201cTough,\u201d but it\u2019s not clear if it is going to be featured on the new record.<\/p>\n

Lasso <\/em>will be\u00a0Lana\u2019s tenth studio album. Her ninth album, Did You Know That There\u2019s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd<\/i>, was released on March 24, 2023. It received critical acclaim from music critics and was nominated<\/a> for five Grammys, including Album of the Year and Best Alternative Music Album.<\/p>\n

Since she started her career, Lana has always been on the top of her game. Her music is typically alternative pop and folk, but she\u2019s experimenting with a whole new genre for her next album. Keep reading for everything you need to know about Lana\u2019s country album.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

When Does Lana Del Rey\u2019s New Album Come Out?<\/h2>\n

Lana confirmed at the Billboard <\/em>event that Lasso\u00a0<\/em>will be released in September 2024. As of July 2024, the singer has still not given a definite release date for the album.<\/p>\n

However, as Lana fans know, plans for any of her albums are subject to change. After releasing her seventh album, Chemtrails over the Country Club<\/i>, in March 2021, Lana announced that her next album titled Rock Candy Sweet\u00a0<\/i>was coming out in June 2021. Instead, her eighth album ended up being titled Blue Bannisters<\/em>, and it didn\u2019t come out until October 2021.<\/p>\n

What Songs Are On Lana Del Rey\u2019s New Album?<\/h2>\n

Aside from the fact that Lasso <\/em>is a country album, Lana hasn\u2019t revealed much about the specific music on the LP. Ahead of the record, Lana did release the collaborative single \u201cTough\u201d with\u00a0Quavo<\/strong> on July 3. The music video featured the rapper and\u00a0Born to Die\u00a0<\/em>star getting very flirty. It\u2019s not clear if the song will be featured on the new album though.<\/p>\n

Lana has explored the country genre before, though not in the case of a full-length album. She covered Tammy Wynette<\/strong>\u2018s \u201cStand By Your Man\u201d during a performance in Nashville in September 2023. Two months later, Lana did a rendition of Elvis Presley<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s \u201cUnchained Melody\u201d for the\u00a0Christmas at\u00a0Graceland<\/em><\/a> NBC special. And in December, Lana released her cover of John Denver<\/strong>\u2018s \u201cTake Me Home, Country Roads.\u201d<\/p>\n

What Has Lana Del Rey Said About Her New Album?<\/h2>\n

Lana talked about her upcoming country album at the\u00a0Billboard <\/em>event on January 31. \u201cIf you can\u2019t already tell by our award winners and our performers, the music business is going country. We\u2019re going country. It\u2019s happening,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The \u201cSummertime Sadness\u201d singer also confirmed that Jack Antonoff<\/a> <\/strong>and Luke Laird\u00a0<\/strong>are producing the album, which will be released through Interscope Records and Polydor Records. Jack, who is\u00a0Taylor Swift<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s most frequent collaborator, has worked with Lana since her sixth album, Norman F***ing Rockwell!<\/em><\/p>\n

Lana admitted that she had \u201cno idea\u201d about \u201cwhere is\u00a0Lasso\u00a0<\/em>going,\u201d given how many major musicians have been releasing country albums in a May interview with\u00a0NME<\/em><\/a>. She also said that the album was more melodically-focused than lyrical.\u00a0 \u201cMaybe less to say in terms of any kind of self-revealing things like on Tunnel\u00a0<\/em>or\u00a0Blue Bannisters<\/em> or\u00a0Chemtrails<\/em> and just more melodic. Maybe more like American songbook style,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
