Your binge session for\u00a0Stranger Things\u00a0<\/em>season five is going to be a bit longer than you\u2019d expect. Maya Hawke<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>gave fans some new information about the upcoming season in a new interview with\u00a0Penn Badgely\u00a0<\/strong>on his\u00a0Podcrushed<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>podcast. Given that fans have long been anticipating the fifth season of the Netflix series, Maya, 25, was asked about what fans can expect, and she revealed that the episodes are going to be long.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been over two years since season four of\u00a0Stranger Things\u00a0<\/em>dropped on Netflix. Other than the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes that halted production for sometime, Maya revealed another reason it\u2019s taken such a long time for the new season to come out: the episode lengths. \u201cWe\u2019re making, basically, eight movies,\u201d she said, via E! News<\/em>.<\/a> \u201cThe episodes are very long.\u201d<\/p>\n

Perhaps, it shouldn\u2019t be a huge surprise for fans to learn that the episodes are going to be very long. While the series has had hour-long episodes since it began, most episodes in season four were around an hour and 15 minutes long, with the final three episodes coming in at movie length for an hour and 40 minutes, an hour and 27 minutes, and over two hours long. So fans are already adjusted to the long episode lengths.<\/p>\n

Maya also complimented the work ethic of the show\u2019s creators, The Duffer Brothers, and explained why it takes so long to shoot each episode. \u201cOur showrunners, Matt<\/strong> and Ross<\/strong> [Duffer],<\/strong> take a lot of responsibility. They have an amazing team of writers, but they\u2019re very involved,\u201d she said. \u201cThey write a lot and they are very intense and serious about the quality of the continued writing, and it takes a long time to write each season, and it takes a long time to shoot them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stranger Things\u00a0<\/em>season five\u2019s release date hasn\u2019t been made public yet, but it\u2019s expected to arrive in early 2025. This is set to be the final season of the show, which debuted in 2016.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
