It is confirmed that Selena Gomez<\/strong><\/a> will come back as her former character on at least the first episode of the series.<\/p>\n \u201cThe series follows an adult Justin Russo, who has chosen to lead a normal, mortal life with his family, Giada, Roman and Milo,\u201d according to a press release. \u201cWhen Justin\u2019s sister, Alex, brings Billie to his home seeking help, Justin realizes he must dust off his magical skills to mentor the wizard-in-training while also juggling his everyday responsibilities \u2014 and safeguarding the future of the Wizard World.\u201d<\/p>\n During her Wednesday, June 27 appearance on\u00a0Jimmy Kimmel Live<\/i><\/a>, the 31-year-old singer and actress told her\u00a0Only Murders in the Building<\/i>\u00a0co-star, Martin Short<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 who was guest hosting for Kimmel \u2013 that she is \u201cso excited\u201d for the upcoming sequel to her 2000s Disney show,\u00a0Wizards of Waverly Place<\/i>, called\u00a0Wizards Beyond Waverly Place<\/i>.<\/p>\n The \u2018Love You Like a Love Song\u2019 singer explained, \u201cIt\u2019s basically something you know I don\u2019t know about your life, you don\u2019t know about my life. It\u2019s a show that means a lot to me.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI know it does. Because you started out in that show. And also you\u2019re appearing on it, too?,\u201d Martin, 74, said.<\/p>\n \u201cYes. I will be in the first episode. I\u2019m executive producing it. It brings me to tears because that is the beginning of where I started.
