After three months, Jonathan Van Ness, who is nonbinary and uses he\/they\/she pronouns, spoke about the allegations made against them and how it \u201cisn\u2019t really based in reality.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 37-year-old hairstylist and\u00a0Queer Eye<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0<\/em>star revealed on an episode of the podcast<\/a> Table Manners<\/em> that their \u201cwhole\u00a0Queer Eye\u00a0<\/em>family had like first learned about this article in like December.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s someone who\u2019s gonna write an investigative takedown about you that isn\u2019t really based in reality, but can certainly have a lot of things taken out of context to make you look as bad as possible,\u201d they added. \u201cSo that could drop any day now. Just so you know.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

With increased expos\u00e9 anticipation, Van Ness recounted feeling like they were \u201cwalking on eggshells\u201d in the time between learning of the article and its March publish date. They even referenced some business troubles JVN Hair, their own hair care brand named using their initials, was having, such as bankruptcy.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo from January to March, I was walking on eggshells being like, \u2018When is this going to happen?\u2019 And then it finally did happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

It came during a \u201cvulnerable\u201d time, Van Ness said, \u201cI think a lot of people were looking for a reason to hate me or looking for a reason to be like, \u2018See, I always knew that they were a fake c\u2014.’\u201d<\/p>\n

One anonymous source told Rolling Stone<\/a>, \u201c<\/em>They\u2019re really centered around having this warmth, love, and care for other people\u201d, but allegedly what you saw on your screen was not consistent with some \u201cdemeaning\u201d behavior crew members experienced.<\/p>\n

No matter how Jonathan felt afterward, they did admit the article made them pause and take a look inward: \u201cEven though I do believe that that article was overwhelmingly untrue and done in bad faith,\u201d they began, \u201cthere have obviously been times throughout my career where you\u2019re like stressed out. Or like I may have been elbow deep in highlights and was like, \u2018No, I can\u2019t talk about that right now.\u2019 I know that there were times where I could have been better.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
