Jason Mewes<\/strong> may be friends with Ben Affleck<\/strong><\/a>, but he\u2019s certainly not familiar with the state of his marriage to Jennifer Lopez<\/strong><\/a>. In a new interview, the comedian set the record straight on what he does \u2014 or does not know \u2014 about one of Hollywood\u2019s most closely watched couples<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI haven\u2019t spoken to [Ben] in a while and I feel like everyone has their opinion, and I don\u2019t know for sure,\u201d Jason, 52, shared with PEOPLE<\/i><\/a> in an interview published Wednesday, June 26. \u201cI feel like even if I did know, I probably wouldn\u2019t want to share that, but I really don\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actor \u2014 who has starred alongside Ben, 51, in the 1999 film Dogma<\/i> and in the 2001 hit Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back <\/i>\u00a0\u2014 also addressed rumors<\/a> that his friend and Jennifer, 54, have been living separately<\/a> in the Los Angeles area.<\/p>\n

Again, Jason made it clear that he doesn\u2019t know if that\u2019s true.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf someone decides to rent [a] place, [it] doesn\u2019t mean they\u2019re necessarily separating,\u201d he explained. \u201cI know from having two kids, it\u2019s like, sometimes you just need a break \u2014 especially if you\u2019re like, \u2018Hey, I\u2019m going to be writing this script and I need just two weeks to focus.’\u201d<\/p>\n

As it turns out, Ben has been busy filming the upcoming sequel The Accountant 2<\/i>. As for Jennifer, she recently celebrated the premiere of her new Netflix movie Atlas<\/i> in May.<\/p>\n

As for why Jason is speaking out about the couple, the comedian made some headlines earlier this month when he was asked about Ben and Jen\u2019s love story. After attending the couple\u2019s wedding two years ago, Jason explained that he would be shocked if they split.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t believe that,\u201d he told TMZ<\/a> on May 22 before being asked more about the couple. \u201cMaybe he\u2019s busy working and she\u2019s working and it\u2019s too much with the kids. I\u2019m not saying that\u2019s what it is \u2014 I don\u2019t know \u2014 but why does it go right to they\u2019re having trouble? Just curious.\u201d<\/p>\n

Both Jennifer and Ben have yet to publicly comment<\/a> on the rumors surrounding their marriage. On Father\u2019s Day weekend, however, the \u201cOn the Floor\u201d singer shared a photo of her husband from his Pearl Harbor <\/i>film that showed him in the pilot seat. Over the picture, the Grammy nominee wrote, \u201cOur Hero. Happy Father\u2019s Day.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
