Toward the end of the segment, Jimmy noted that it was an \u201cimportant day\u201d for Joseph.<\/p>\nJoseph began gushing about his wife, and said he had a special shout out for her. \u201cToday is actually my wife\u2019s birthday, and I\u2019m so sad, because she\u2019s not here in New York with me. I\u2019m here working, and she\u2019s back home, and I feel so terrible,\u201d he said. \u201cSo, I texted Jimmy, and I was like, \u2018Can I give her a special birthday present on the show?’\u201d<\/p>\n
Jimmy then gave Joseph an acoustic guitar, and a mic stand was brought out, and he gave a short introduction and dedication to the love of his life. \u201cThis is a song by a singer-songwriter that she really, really loves, who you all might know,\u201d he said. \u201cBabe, you\u2019re the most luminous soul I\u2019ve ever met, and I\u2019m so grateful you were born. Love you.\u201d<\/p>\n
Joseph then performed a very faithful cover of \u201cLover,\u201d but he did change the opening line to reflect his wife\u2019s summer birthday. \u201cWe could leave the Christmas lights up \u2019til July,\u201d he sang.<\/p>\n
