This is a crucial point, as reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2024\/6\/17\/24180353\/apple-carplay-wireless-system-features\">The Verge<\/a>, reflecting an important development issue for the new feature.<\/p>\n<p>Automakers, like Mercedez-Benz, were understandably reluctant to allow Apple to \u201cget between\u201d them and their customer for a key component inside the vehicle. As described in the report \u201cthe result is an approach to CarPlay that\u2019s much less \u2018Apple runs your car\u2019 and much more \u2018Apple built a design toolkit for automakers to use however they want\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We are not yet at the stage where the full specifications or capability of CarPlay are known, but there will be adaptability and perhaps restrictions for what each manufacturer has in mind for the in-car system.<\/p>\n<p><noscript><iframe title=\"WWDC24: Say hello to the next generation of CarPlay design system | Apple\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/PLf44BXd0SE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/noscript><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Big brand resistance to CarPlay<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Apple\u2019s new \u201cpunch-through UI\u201d enables brands to design their interface together with other controls over CarPlay, and the ability to toggle between both. At WWDC, Apple made it clear the automakers would retain significant control over how things would look, as reflected in the two videos from the conference detailing current intentions for CarPlay\u2019s design and build.<\/p>\n<p>The new UI will also be able to match what the various auto brands want to provide, such as\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">HVAC controls, reverse camera displays, and more.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Apple has plenty of big hitters on its side, with the likes of Ford and Porsche in agreement for the inclusion of dedicated infotainment systems like CarPlay in this instance. Audi, Aston Martin, and Chevrolet are also on the list but it is not all good news.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/readwrite.com\/tesla-shareholders-approve-elon-musk-56b-pay-deal-texas\/\">Tesla<\/a> and General Motors are among some heavyweight brands that are pushing ahead with their own plans and dashboards that will disable CarPlay as well as Android Auto.
