Armie Hammer<\/strong><\/a> is addressing his controversial past. The 37-year-old<\/a> \u2014 who was previously accused of harboring cannibalistic desires, committing sexual assault and more \u2014 appeared on the \u201cPainful Lessons<\/a>\u201d podcast on Sunday, June 16, to reflect on his recovery and newfound peace. During the podcast episode, Armie noted that he is now \u201cat a place in my life where I\u2019m grateful for every single bit of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m actually now at a place where I\u2019m really grateful for it because where I was in my life before all of that stuff happened to me, I didn\u2019t feel good,\u201d the former actor explained to host Tyler Ramsey. \u201cI never felt satisfied; I never had enough; I never was in a place where I was happy with myself where I had self-esteem.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Social Network<\/em> star further pointed out that he \u201cnever knew how to give [himself] love.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI never knew how to give myself self-validation, but I had this job where I was able to get it from so many people that I never had to learn how to give it to myself,\u201d Hammer added, before admitting that he contemplated suicide. \u201cThere were a lot of times when I thought, \u2018I can\u2019t take this anymore.\u2019 I was getting hate, so it just went right in. \u2026 I was standing at the shore and I swam out really far and just laying there, a half-assed suicide attempt. But I thought I couldn\u2019t do that to my kids.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hammer shares his children, daughter Harper and son Ford, with his ex-wife, Elizabeth Chambers<\/strong><\/a>. The former spouses were married from 2010 to 2023<\/a>. She filed for divorce<\/a> from the Lone Ranger<\/em> actor in 2020.<\/p>\n

Hammer noted that the situation he was in was \u201can ego death, a career death,\u201d describing it as a \u201cneutron bomb\u201d going off in his life.<\/p>\n

In 2021, a woman named Effie accused Hammer of raping her in 2017. She revealed sexually graphic text messages allegedly sent by Hammer. In one message, the actor allegedly declared himself a cannibal, which he denied during his latest podcast appearance.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople called me a cannibal, and everyone believed them,\u201d he said on the podcast. \u201cThey\u2019re like, \u2018Yep, that guy ate people.\u2019 Like, what? What are you talking about? Do you know what you have to do to be a cannibal? You have to eat people! How am I going to be a cannibal?! It was bizarre.\u201d<\/p>\n
