Helldivers 2\u2019s next Warbond, the jungle warfare-themed \u201cViper Commandos,\u201d<\/a> launches June 13 and with it developer Arrowhead is announcing a newer approach to its live-service model that will slow the pace of content and prioritize quality experiences over volume.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have been listening to your feedback as we develop our Warbonds in general,\u201d community manager Katherine Baskin wrote on the PlayStation Blog, \u201cThe idea behind each Warbond is to allow our Helldivers to roleplay their favorite soldier fantasies within our universe, but it\u2019s important that these are fantasies that actually appeal to our players.\u201d<\/p>\n Viper Commandos, therefore, is going to take a less-is-more approach, \u201crather than giving more of the same,\u201d Baskin said. Weapons and armor sets were starting to feel redundant or repetitive for the game, which launched in February.<\/p>\n So the gear coming in the newest Warbond \u201creally sell that fantasy of \u2018up close and personal,\u2019\u201d Baskin wrote. Two weapons kick off the latest update \u2014 the AR-23A Liberator Carbine and the SG-22 Bushwacker which is formidably described as a \u201ctriple-barrel, sawed-off shotgun with two different firing modes,\u201d and yes that means one mode deploys all three barrels.<\/p>\n Armor includes the PH-9 Predator, which helps sell the lore of the Viper Commandos who \u201cheld off an entire Terminid brood with nothing but a machine gun, pocket knife, and Orbital Laser.\u201d (That last tool was probably the difference-maker). There\u2019s also the \u201cPH-202 Twigsnapper\u201d for heavy assault types. But as always, everything is mixable-and-matchable. Both armors feature a Peak Physique passive trait, which improves both melee damage and weapon handling (while allowing players to flex out their biceps and triceps).<\/p>\n Viper Commandos will cost 1,000 Super Credits, an in-game currency that can be freely earned or bought straight up for $9.99.<\/p>\n Helldivers 2\u2019s last Warbond content update was the \u201cPolar Patriots,\u201d<\/a>\u00a0 <\/span>in May. Though this Warbond comes only a month later, Arrowhead\u2019s PlayStation Blog post suggests the next one might take a little longer.<\/p>\n The game is one of the fastest-selling PlayStation 5 titles of all time, in addition to being available on PC.
