The director gave us Street Fighter X Tekken and Pokk\u00e9n Tournament, after all. Yet still he cannot fathom why American fans would want a Waffle House stage in <a href=\"https:\/\/readwrite.com\/tekken-8-launches-new-battle-pass-system-fans-are-not-amused\/\">Tekken 8<\/a> \u2014 but the fact he\u2019s continuing to ask these questions on social media implies he\u2019s at least considering the request.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">To recap, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ign.com\/articles\/tekken-8-director-responds-to-the-many-fans-asking-for-a-waffle-house-level\">earlier this spring<\/a> Tekken fans swarmed social media to beg Harada and Bandai Namco to introduce a Waffle House stage in the game, which <a href=\"https:\/\/readwrite.com\/tekken-8-gears-up-for-impending-launch-with-new-trailer\/\">launched Jan. 26<\/a> on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The request references a kind of Internet meme\/video whereby some patron \u2014 \u201ctired and emotional\u201d as the British say \u2014 gets rowdy inside the 24-hour breakfast joint, a staple of U.S. Interstate culture, and they catch the hands from its overworked, pissed-off, underpaid staff. These fights are largely one-off phenomena that get repeatedly played on social media and <a href=\"https:\/\/worldstarhiphop.com\/watch\/fight-videos\">WorldStarHipHop.com<\/a>. This is a restaurant that the Federal Emergency Management Agency literally <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Waffle_House_Index\">relies on as a marker<\/a> for how bad a disaster is when a hurricane or other extreme weather event blows through. If the Waffle House ain\u2019t open, son, it is officially BAD. They fight to save their restaurant, in other words.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">That\u2019s why Tekken 8 needs to include a Waffle House, or at least something that looks like it, in the game. I get that there would be licensing, lawyers, and a big discussion with the chain\u2019s corporate leadership, brand managers, and PR staff to literally put that restaurant in the game.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">But nothing prevents Harada and Bandai Namco from at least setting up a generic-looking diner, with cooks behind the counter rolling up their sleeves and tossing dishes at King, Heihachi, Kazumi et al.
