As <em>TechCrunch<\/em> <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:1;pos:1\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2024\/06\/03\/instagram-confirms-test-of-unskippable-ads\/\" data-ylk=\"slk:reports;elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:1;pos:1;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\"><\/a>, Meta is testing a new type of non-skippable ad in the Instagram feed, which the company is calling an \u201cad break.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With the new ads, which have already been spotted by some users, you can\u2019t scroll past the feed ad until the\u201dad break\u201d finishes. According to screenshots shared on <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:2;pos:1\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Instagram\/comments\/1d52psw\/ad_break_ie_unskippable_ads_now_on_instagram\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Reddit;elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:2;pos:1;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\"><\/a> and <a data-i13n=\"elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:3;pos:1\" class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheDanLevy\/status\/1796903470210892101\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:X;elm:context_link;elmt:doNotAffiliate;cpos:3;pos:1;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\"><\/a>, it appears that the \u201cbreaks\u201d are a few seconds long, though it\u2019s not clear if the length could change should Meta decide to make the new format official. \u201cAd breaks are a new way of seeing ads on Instagram,\u201d an in-app message states. \u201cSometimes you may need to view an ad before you can keep browsing.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"twitter-tweet-wrapper\" data-embed-anchor=\"fb1ad899-caae-5aa4-8e25-fd2f8819e600\">\n<blockquote placeholder=\"\" data-theme=\"light\" class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p>Holy moly!
