Maya Hawke<\/strong> <\/a>has no problem with being called a \u201cnepo baby,\u201d despite the criticism that comes with the title. The 25-year-old daughter of Ethan Hawke<\/strong><\/a> and Uma Thurman<\/strong><\/a> explained how she feels about the viral nickname given to the children of Hollywood\u2019s most high-profile figures.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018Deserves\u2019 is a complicated word,\u201d Maya told The Times UK<\/em><\/a> in a recent interview. \u201cThere are so many people who deserve to have this kind of life who don\u2019t, but I think I\u2019m comfortable with not deserving it and doing it anyway. \u2026 It\u2019s okay to be made fun of when you\u2019re in rarefied air. It\u2019s a lucky place to be. My relationships with my parents are really honest and positive, and that supersedes anything anyone can say about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

While she feels \u201clucky\u201d to have a career in show business, Maya noted that she \u201csaw two paths when [she] was first starting, and one of them was: change your name, get a nose job and go to open casting roles.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maya recently starred in Maestro<\/em> and previously appeared in her dad\u2019s film, Wildcat<\/em>, in which she played the lead role, Flannery O\u2019Connor. Ethan, 53, directed the biographical drama. Apart from her acting career, Maya is also a musician, having released three albums so far.<\/p>\n

In addition to Maya, ex-spouses Ethan and Uma, 54, share son Levon<\/a> together.<\/p>\n

This wasn\u2019t the first time that Maya opened up about her family ties. Last year, while promoting Wildcat<\/em>, Maya and her father addressed the \u201cinsecurity\u201d she felt while working with him on set.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had moments of insecurity about it while we were shooting the movie,\u201d she told Variety<\/em><\/a> in September 2023. \u201dBut the internet doesn\u2019t have a lot of nuances. My dad has been a massive teacher for me, and we want to work together. We like being with each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

After revealing that she tried to call her dad, \u201cEthan,\u201d while working on set, the Dead Poets Society<\/em> actor added, \u00a0\u201cIf someone wants to criticize us for working together, that\u2019s totally fair. You have to let people have their opinion. You just have to try to do a good job when you\u2019re onstage.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
