The When We Were Young festival isn\u2019t for another four months, but Las Vegas became a pop-punk haven during\u00a0Avril Lavigne\u2019s<\/strong><\/a> concert at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday, June 1. The \u201cGirlfriend\u201d singer, 39, brought out her ex-husband\u00a0Deryck Whibley<\/strong>, 44, for a surprise performance of Sum 41\u2019s hit \u201cIn Too Deep\u201d as part of the concert.<\/p>\n

Avril brought out the Sum 41 singer-guitarist near the end of her main set. She teased that she had a surprise in store for the audience before he came out. \u201cOkay, Vegas. I\u2019ve got a little surprise for you guys, tonight. Tonight, we have a special guest, and he plays guitar in one of my favorite bands and your favorite bands. Ladies and gentlemen, please give it up for Deryck from Sum 41!\u201d she announced.<\/p>\n

Deryck ran out with a gold Les Paul guitar, as he greeted the crowd. \u201cThank you for letting me crash this party tonight,\u201d he said. \u201cOne question: where\u2019s all the crazy m**********rs here tonight? Alright, this song is called \u2018In Too Deep.’\u201d<\/p>\n

The band then performed Sum 41\u2019s\u00a0All Killer No Filler\u00a0<\/em>single as a duet between Avril and Deryck. The rocker wasn\u2019t the only pop-punk icon who joined Avril on stage that night. All Time Low have been opening for the\u00a0Love Sux\u00a0<\/em>singer on this tour, and they\u2019ve been joining her to perform their song \u201cFake as Hell.\u201d<\/p>\n

Avril began dating Deryck when she was 19, and the pair tied the knot in July 2006, but she filed for divorce in October 2009. Their split was finalized the following year. Despite their divorce, it\u2019s clear that they\u2019ve remained on good terms, as Deryck worked with her on the 2011 album\u00a0Goodbye Lullaby<\/em>.<\/p>\n

After their divorce, Avril began dating Nickelback frontman\u00a0Chad Kroeger<\/strong>, and they got married in 2013, but they divorced two years later. Deryck married his wife\u00a0Ariana Cooper\u00a0<\/strong>in 2015.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
