Gabby Petito<\/strong>\u2018s mother, Nichole Schmidt<\/strong>, has forgiven Brian Laundrie<\/strong> for her daughter\u2019s death but not his mother, Roberta Laundrie<\/strong><\/a>. While speaking at CrimeCon 2024 last week, Nicole addressed both Brian \u2014 who died by suicide<\/a> in 2021 \u2014 and Roberta.<\/p>\n \u201cI speak for myself here when I say Brian, I forgive you,\u201d Nicole said, according to multiple outlets. \u201cI needed to release myself from the chains of anger and bitterness, and I refuse to let your despicable act define the rest of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n Nicole then addressed Roberta, explaining why she chose to \u201ccall [her] out individually.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAs for you, Roberta \u2014 and I call you out individually because you are evidently the mastermind that shattered your family and mind with your evil ways \u2014 I see no empathy in your eyes, no remorse in your heart and no willingness to take responsibility for your actions,\u201d Nicole said.<\/p>\n Nicole added that Roberta is \u201cdark\u201d and \u201cthe sociopath that everyone fears.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe one who appears so innocent and kind, but harbors darkness within your soul,\u201d Gabby\u2019s mother continued before concluding, \u201cYou do not deserve forgiveness. You deserve to be forgotten and dehumanized. You epitomize pure evil.\u201d<\/p>\n Last year, it was revealed that Roberta had offered her late son a shovel and garbage bags in a letter that was enclosed, \u201cBurn after reading.\u201d The letter was requested by the Petito family after they filed a lawsuit against Roberta and Christopher Laundrie<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u201cI just want you to remember I will always love you, and I know you will always love me. You are my boy,\u201d Roberta\u2019s letter to Brian read. \u201cNothing can make me stop loving you, nothing will or could ever divide us no matter what we do, or where we go or what we say \u2014 we will always love each other. If you\u2019re in jail, I will bake a cake with a file in it. If you need to dispose of a body, I will show up with a shovel and garbage bags. If you fly to the moon, I will be watching the skies for your re-entry. If you say you hate my guts, I\u2019ll get new guts.\u201d<\/p>\n Gabby\u2019s story captured the nation\u2019s attention after she went missing amid her cross-country trip with Brian over the summer of 2021. Her remains were discovered in the Bridger\u2013Teton National Forest in Wyoming in October 2021.
